"I can't believe mom has to send us in the market." sunoo groans as he checks if the tomato he was holding was still fresh.
"it's not bad running errands for your parents, hyung."
"well I use to like running errands for them when I was just new to it. but now it's tiring because they almost make me do everything!"
jungwon stayed quiet, not responding to his cousin. he didn't know what to say because he doesn't know how sunoo feels.
all his life his parents never made him do chores or run errands for them. they had their maids to do that. all they make him do was focus on his studies.
he's grateful for all the things his parents has done and given him but sometimes he wish to be born in a family like sunoo's, who was living simply in the province.
his parents is a business tycoon. they work hard to reach the top of the industry they are in, leaving their son alone in their huge house with only his nanny as his companion.
despite being away from him most of the time, his parents still has little time to talk to him, only to make sure he was maintaining his grade. they said they didn't want a son who's a failure and would bring shame in their name and jungwon never did tried disappointing them. he doesn't have the guts to go against them.
to sum it all up, jungwon is living to please his parents.
aside for being with his favorite cousin, he has another reason to accept this vacation. he wants to feel freedom, where his parents wouldn't be able to control him, even for a short period of time.
with all this thoughts running free in his mind, he didn't notice that his cousin was already gone.
how could he not notice that he wasn't beside him anymore?
he looks around but to no avail, his cousin was not in sight.
jungwon wasn't familiar with the place since it was his first time here. he also hasn't memorize his way back home!
he was clearly panicking right now. what a great day to forget to bring his phone.
it's been almost half an hour of roaming the market, trying to look for his cousin, but he just wasn't seen anywhere. did his cousin seriously forgot about him?
jungwon was so close to crying. yes, he's already 17 but then he wasn't familiar with the place and he doesn't have the confidence to ask someone for directions.
he was then startled when someone suddenly approached him. it was a blonde, tall boy looking at him with concern.
"hey, are you okay?"
"I.. I'm lost." he chokes out. he was fidgeting his fingers out of nervousness already.
"oh so you're new here? I can help you." the guy offered.
"uh yeah, I am." he lies, too shy to correct him. he doesn't see the point of telling the truth anyway because for sure this will be their last encounter. "do you know kim sunoo?"
the stranger smiled and nod. "yes, I know him. do you live with him and his family?"
"I do. so can you lead the way for me? I've been lost for almost an hour already."
"I just told you that I'll help you. so come on, let's go."
jungwon knows that trusting a stranger could lead him to a disaster but letting the guy lead him the way is his best option right now.
he let out a breath of relief when sunoo's house came into view. now he can confirm that the guy was just trying to genuinely help.
you can't blame him if he was worried, all his parents has told him is that humans loves taking advantage of others.
"thank you so much." jungwon says. "I didn't really know my way back here."
"I'm glad to help." the stranger smiles, which jungwon found really pretty. "well I have to go now. I'm on my way to meet some friends. I'll see you later?"
"oh sure."
jungwon watches him walk away. he was glad that there was someone nice enough to help him. he also felt kind off jealous to know that the stranger has some friends unlike him. just then he realized that the stranger said he'll see him later, what does he mean by that?
he walks in the house only to find his cousin talking to someone on the phone.
sunoo's eyes widen. "nevermind, mom. everything is good here." and then ending the call.
jungwon assumes that sunoo was about to tell his mom that he was missing.
"I can't believe you lost me there!" jungwon yelled at him with annoyance.
"I'm sorry! I thought you were tailing behind me but I was surprise to see you weren't there anymore." sunoo apologetically said and hug his cousin. "I'm so glad you're safe. were you able to memorize your way home?" now sunoo sound amuse with the thought of that.
"no. someone helped me."
I think I'm starting to have a habit of updating during late at night.
