I walked around the camp for a while. The kids walked around talking, and playing. I had a feeling I was going to be around these people for a while. I introduced myself to everyone, and they did the same. Daryl finds me a weird child. I am a very nice person, but I am also a mean person. I will be nice to you if you're nice to me. I met all the families. There was Lori, and Carl; the blue eyed boy that was my age. Morales, and his family. Shane, and Andrea, and Amy. Jackie, and T-Dog, Glenn, and Dale. I walked over to a women, and her child. She had shot gray hair, and light eyes, her daughter had light brown hair, and brown eyes.
“I'm Mary Dixon.” I walk over to them. She smiled at me kindly, and so does the little girl my age.
“I'm Carol, this is my daughter Sophia.” I look over, and she smiles, and waves shyly.
“Carol! Get over here!” A man yelled, and I flinched. Carol looked at me with apologetic eyes. That man sounds just as cruel as my father.
I walk around for a while, and Carl and Sophia are both sitting down talking. I get up, and walk over to them. They start talking about school, and all of there friends. I told them about the time Merle went to my school field trip, and was banned from ever coming to my school, and the Zoo. Lori, and Carol called for them, and I walked back to the truck. While Daryl, and Merle took out Daryl's motorcycle in the back. The truck jumped up, and down as they took it out. I put my hair down slowly, brushing it with my fingers. My brown hair fell in the high middle of my back. Daryl sat beside me in the car.
“I saw you talkin' to that officer earlier.” He said.
“He told me, Daryl. Merle's right, they're probably like freakin' zombies.” I shook my head.
I laid down inside the truck, and fell asleep. Days had gone by, and things were getting worse. We had started a system around here; women would do the laundry, and such, while men guarded. The whole system was sexist. It was like back in the olden days the cliché work system. After hanging all the clothes on the wire I get up, and walk away. Sophia, and Carl are running around in the water with Shane, but I decide to walk around. Glenn sits alone starring at the dirt.
“What are you doin?” I ask him.
“Thinking.” He says.
“What you thinkin' about? How you could've gotten better grades in school?” I snicker.
“I did okay in school. God, why does everyone think Asians are smart?” He mutters.
“Cause most of em' are. Sterotypes.” I shrug, and sit on the log beside him.
“Why don't you run off with all the other kids?” Glenn asks.
“I don't wanna.” I shrug.
“You aren't like most twelve year old's.” Glenn comments.
“That's because I grew up with those two bastards.” I pointed back to Merle, and Daryl as they were arguing over the motorcycle.
“So what did you do before the world ended?” I ask quite curiously.
“I played video games, delivered pizza. I had sisters. What about you?” He shrugs.
“I went to school. I spent most of my days either locked in my bedroom, or out in the woods. Daryl, and Merle weren't always home, but they came. Merle was always in jail. Daryl always workin'.” I shrug my life wasn't the best. I skip the talk about my father.
“So have you ever really eaten a cat?” I chuckle lightly.
“Shut up, kid.” He laughs along.
