ChapterSix:

Kenzie'sP.O.V:

We had been barricaded in the operation theatre for four hours. Sofar the walkers seem to have grown bored and moved on leaving us befor the moment. They weren't far round the corner though.

"She needs something else this antibiotics isn't helping."Rick said through the lump in his throat. Lori's condition wasdeteriorating fast.

Carol had the kids in the next theatre room so Carl didn't have tosee his mom like this.

"I'll give her another shot but Rick, this isn't going to fixher right away. Antibiotics take time." I said and prepared anothershot.

"We don't have time." He cried.

"Listen, we will stay here as long as we can where we can keepgiving her the antibiotics and hopefully by morning we should see asmall improvement." Ruby tried reassuring him.

"My son is In there and he needs his mom. We can't lose her."

"I know, I know." She wrapped him up in a hug. I looked toShane who was just standing by the door watching Lori quietly, Icould see he was upset.

We all settled in for the night Shane agreeing to take first shiftof keeping an eye on Lori and making sure walkers didn't get in. Rickwouldn't go to sleep he refused to leave her side. But he must havefallen asleep out of sheer exhaustion. As when I woke due to hungerpains I saw him slouched n the chair next to her. My tired eyes soonfocused on Shane leaning over Lori holding her hand.

"Don't you die on me you hear me Lori, don't you fucking die onme. I need you, I can't get you out of my head." At this point Lorimoved and Shane jumped calling on Rick. I jump to my feet and jointhem. She was convulsing violently then she went still. Checking herpulse I announced she was gone. Rick fell to his knees until henoticed Carl was behind him.

"Dad?" Ricks eyes fell on his son and I saw his heart breakeven more if it was possible.

"Carl don't come over here."

"Is mom okay?"

"N-no son she isn't." Rick walked over and hugged his son."I'm so sorry." I had to fight the tears back as I watched Rickcradle his son as they both broke down together. Pretty soon everyonewas awake and we all stood in silence. Until a loud thud camecrashing through the silence. We all turn to see Shane had punched ahole in the wall.

"Hey come here." I wrapped him up in a hug. My mind wanderedto what I heard him say right before... What did he mean by that? Ican't get you out of my head. What a bizarre thing to say to his bestfriends wife.

"Guys" Carol said as Lori's eyes opened.

"Run" Shane called

"Where we are trapped I said as she began to climb of the table.

"This way." Carol led the way with the kids out the window anddown the fire escape. Rick stopped at the window and told us to goon, he needed to take care of Lori. We were no less than half waydown when we heard gun fire ring through the air. Shortly after Rickstarted to catch up with us. There was only one problem. The streetbelow was crawling with walkers.
