The morning of the second exam Hinami had woken up earlier than she had anticipated. If it had been any other day she would have made her way to the training ground near the waterfall at the edge of the forest. She was still deciding if she should, unaware of the young Uchiha boy who had also been up early and unlike her, he had taken the liberty to make his way to the waterfall. Sasuke had not set foot on the training ground for the past five years. He wouldn't say he had forgotten about it, more so he didn't have a reason to return.

This place held so many memories of when he was younger that he was afraid if he set foot here, those memories of those days would return and the vengeance he wanted for the murder of his clan would just fade away. But surprisingly this place only made him even more vengeful. His brother took so many precious memories away from him and his sisters.

One of his most precious was with her. The one girl he remembered gushing over to his brother that now he couldn't even look at her. He couldn't be in her presence without feeling guilt. Guilt that was never his to begin with.

Sasuke sat against the tree, closing his eyes, taking in the quietness. He had forgotten how silent this place was. The only sounds he could remember hearing was the wind and the tireless breaths of Hinami after she was done training. The Uchiha boy opened his eyes when he heard footsteps approaching. He quickly jumped up into the tree looking down to see a familiar figure. She didn't have on her training gear but rather a kimono. The red kimono to be exact.

He had always believed purple was her colour, but red actually suited her.

The girl let out a sigh as she sat the basket on the grass. The sun wasn't out yet so he was curious to know what she was doing here so early. “It's been a little over a few days since I've come around here to enjoy a picnic,” Hinami spoke up, and it felt like she was indirectly speaking to him.

“The second exam is starting today so I thought why not come here before I left simce I already know after today it's gonna be a while before I come again,” Hinami said, her eyes focused on the water. Sasuke was still seated in the tree, not moving a muscle because he knew if he did she would know he was there.

Hinami let out a loud sigh, her head falling back as she inhaled the air. The Hyuuga girl started unpacking the basket filled with breakfast she had prepared. Sasuke moved his hand so be could hold on to the branch above his head. Hinami’s hand froze over the fruits which made Sasuke freeze as well. She didn't look up or even turn her head, she just reached for the fruits.

Sasuke stayed still while Hinami ate her food. Him just watching her made it feel like old times when he was a seven year old boy again with a crush.

The sun slowly started to rise which made both of them realise that they would need to leave soon. Sasuke was about to leave when Hinami stood up, her body turned to the tree he was in. She packed up her basket and dusted off her kimono. She let out a small sigh before she made her way to the exit but she stopped in her tracks.

“Good luck today, Sasuke.”

Sasuke's eyes widened as a small smile took over Hinami's lips. His heart fluttered in his chest for that split second the same way it did when she had caught him watching her that specific day. The girl made her way back into the forest, leaving him behind.

The Uchiha boy let out a sigh he didn't even realise he was holding. A smile took over his lips, a chuckle left his lips. He should have known he wouldn't be able to sneak up on her even if he tried.

He glanced to the path she walked before be jumped down and made his way back home. There was still few more hours before they had to meet.
