After the Otogakure shinobi did their little fiasco with Kabuto Ibiki-sensei had arrived. Hinami was impressed the Otogakure shinobi were able to use sound to attack Kabuto but they basically just showed everyone their trump card. It would have been better if they just kept it as a surprise. Now most of the people in the room knew what to expect from them.

Ibiki-sensei had firstly gave them a speech that basically scared everyone shitless. Hinami herself was a bit scared because the man's glare could send anyone six feet under.
“Now, if we're ready we'll proceed to the first stage of the chunin exam. Hand over your paperwork. In return you'll each be given a number,” Ibiki said holding up the number one.

“This number determines where you will sit. We'll start the written test once you're all seated,” Ibiki said and Hinami smirked looking at Gino. The first test was a written test. Minha was one of the smartest people in the room with Nara Shikamaru. They'd be able to ace this test, no problem.

After everyone had given in their paperwork, they found their seats. Conveniently Hinami was seated just behind Minha. Gino, however, was seated beside her sister, Hinata in the front with Naruto. Asami was seated far away from them.

“Everyone eyes to the front,” Ibiki said to them. “There are a few rules you need to be aware of. And I won't answer any questions so you better pay attention the first time around!” His eyes moved over the room.

“All right rule number one is this. The written part of the exam is conducted on a point reduction system. Contrary to what some of you may be used to.”

Hinami glanced over to Gino. She didn't want either of them to fail now just when they just started. She hoped the questions weren't too difficult to answer. “You all begin the test with a perfect score of 10 points. One point will be deducted for each answer you get wrong. So if you miss three. You're final score will be seven.”

Hinami leaned forward. If she can get at least eight then it will be perfect.

“Rule number 2: Teams will pass or fail based on the total scores of all three members,” he said and gasps could be heard all around the room. Hinami did not expect that to come out of the man's mouth.

"What? Wait a second! You're saying that we all get scored as a team?!” the pink haired girl, Sakura yelled out with disbelief.
She must be worried because Naruto was on her team.

“Silence! I have my reasons, so shut up and listen,” Ibiki-sensei said.

“Rule number 3: The sentinels you see positioned around the room are there to watch you carefully for any signs of cheating. And for every incident they spot, they will subtract two points from the culprits score.”

Two points for cheating? Doesn't that usually mean disqualification? Why just subtract two points?

“Be warned their eyes are extremely sharp and if they catch you five times you will be dismissed before the tests are even scored,” Ibiki-sensei told them. Hinami bit her lip now hoping the questions were easy or else she will be done for.

“Anyone foolish enough to be caught cheating by the sentinels doesn't deserve to be here.”

“I got my eye on you guys,” one of the sentinels said from the side.

“If you want to be considered shinobi then show us what exceptional shinobi you can be.” Hinami ran her hand through her hair. Minha and Gino are excellent in written tests as they are both smart. If Minha and Gino can get ten points, and she can get at least seven or eight maybe they'd be able to pass.

“One more thing if any candidate should get a zero and fail the test then the entire team fails,” Ibiki declared.

“Oh.”
Hinami believed in her team. They will pass this test.
