"So, did it go well?" Lucy is waiting for me when I dash into our shared room, tears already streaming down my face. She sees the state I'm in and hesitates, unsure if I want to be comforted. And no, I fucking don't!

"What do you think?" I stumble over to my bed, sheets rumpled, and fling myself onto it, burying my head into the pillow.

"Why!" I scream as loud as I can, the noise muffled by the material. Lucy wavers by her own bed, slowly placing the comb she was holding onto the nightstand beside it. I can't stand the way she's looking at me.

Smashing my fists into the mattress, I lift my head and glare at her, nose and eyes running.

"Don't look at me!"

She jumps back a step, startled. I instantly feel bad.

"I'm sorry. It's just that the day has been really shit so far." Exhausted and defeated, I roll onto my back and stare at the cream colored ceiling above me. Lucy nods understandingly and sits down on her own bed, the mattress dipping beneath her weight.

"Well, keywords in there, so far. You can still have a half-decent day." Her eyes flash brightly as an idea comes to her. "Movie?"

I turn my head, a smile already playing out across my face. She knows me too well. I guess that's what you get for living with each other your whole lives.

"Mean Girls?" My mouth quirks upwards.

She grins.

"Only for you."

True to her word, only this once does Lucy not comment or sigh heavily as we watch, tucked in amongst the warm sheets of her bed, the movie Mean Girls.

I don't remember the exact moment I fall asleep, I only remember when Lucy shifts, rolling my head off her lap. I start awake and jolt upright, looking around shocked.

"The movie finished." Lucy explains helpfully.

"Oh, right." I rub the back of my neck, then begrudgingly flop off her bed and land on the carpet with a resounding thud.

"Ow." She scrunches her face at me. Crawling across to my own bed, I climb under the duvet and curl up in a fetal position on my side, facing the stark wall.

"I take it you're not gonna have dinner tonight." Lucy calls over to me, her voice muffled from the covers.

I cautiously poke my head out and give her the stink eye.

"Nope. Just go on without me."

And with that I dive back into the safety of my bed sheets, listening to her footsteps fade as she leaves the room. The door clicks shut behind her.

I jolt upright, startled awake. My heart is beating so fast and my mind is still groggy with sleep. The room is dark, and I have no idea what time of the night it is. All I know is that something woke me.

Squinting through the blackness I can barely make out Lucy's sleeping form across from me, her quiet snores filling the dead silent room.

"Lucy." I whisper, hoping she'll wake.

She doesn't though, only snorts and rolls onto her other side, facing away from me. I sigh, throwing off the covers to swing my legs over the side of the bed. They touch down on the cold floor and I wince.

Rubbing my sleep laden eyes I yawn, stretching my arms above my head cat-like. It has to be about one or two in the morning.

Then I hear someone scream. Loudly.
