"Leona, you've been glaring at Draco for the last ten minutes! Why?" Hermione demanded, "And don't give me that 'Oh, it's nothing' rubbish."
Leona should have known better than to try and trick the bright witch alongside her. So instead she tried to think of a other reason.
"Um...we had another argument yesterday."
Hermione raised her eyebrows at her fellow Gryffindor, "And..."
Leona gave her a confused look so Hermione explained, "You two are always arguing, which doesn't make any sense because you never argue with anyone?"
Leona froze, Hermione was her friend but she couldn't mention that she and Draco had been friends for a while.
Had.
The word echoed painfully in her head, reminding her that she was no longer his friend. Instead, Leona lied, "He just knows how to push my buttons, it's infuriating!"
Leona immediately felt the guilt crawling up her body, making her feel nauseous. The Gryffindor in her wanted to be truthful, be brave and tell Hermione everything but she couldn't.
"Oh yeah, he gets that from his father." She smirked in a very un-Hermione like fashion.
Leona winced as she thought about Draco's father, remembering the bruises and scars.
"Leona? Ok, I know something is up. Why won't you just tell me? You know I will figure it out anyway."
Leona realised that Hermione would read and research until she found the answer. She would rather tell Hermione but every time, the words just died in her throat.
"It's really just that. It's his stuck-up manner and his-"
"Stuck-up, am I?" A voice drawled, Leona's eyes widened, "Well, I have reason to be. Seeing as it's the likes of you in the school. Technically you should just be chucked out."
Leona turned to look at him and almost winced at the look of hatred burning in his eyes. Hermione decided to answer, "Get lost, Draco. No one cares what you think anyway."
Draco just kept glaring intensely at Leona ignoring Hermione, "You shouldn't only be expelled, you should be killed." Hermione gasped loudly along with Leona, the latter had been expecting this sort of treatment but she never knew the hatred would be this sudden.
She felt her eyes burn with tears but refused to let them show, "Let's go, Hermione. His presence is making me want to vomit." She then grabbed Hermione's arm and they left the furious Draco alone.
"What was that all about?" Hermione asked, confused.
Leona answered with another question, "What do you mean? He's always like that."
"No, he was looking at you while he spoke. He didn't even glance at me, he just glared at you the whole time."
Leona cursed the fact Hermione was so clever and observant, "Coincidence, total coincidence!"
Hermione raised her eyebrows at her nodded suspiciously, "Yeah, sure..."
They continued walking in silence which gave Leona time to think. Her mind flitted back to the night before, when she stormed out the room she remembered seeing a flash of green.
Emerald green...
Suddenly, Leona gasped, her heart racing.
"What's wrong? Leona! What happened?"
