I sat on the edge of the small, plastic chair in the doctor's clinic. I've always hated this place, it smells like rubbing alcohol and piss. Hot, horse piss. Gross. A light knock arrived at the door. I looked up and saw Doctor Martin walk into the room "Good morning Lexi, Mrs. Chapman." I muttered a small 'Good morning' to him before looking down again. The doctor started fixing the massive glasses that were propped on his skinny nose "We need to perform some tests on Lexi." I let out a groan. I knew what 'tests' he was talking about and I hated it. They were going to take fluid out of my spine.

In about 30 minutes, I was laid down on my stomach and Doctor Martin was inserting a big ass needle into my back. I yelped in pain as the cold, long needle entered my back. I let out a sigh of relief when I felt it leave my back. After 25 minutes of my mom talking to the doctors, we left.

I entered the passenger seat of the car as we exited the driveway of the hospital. 5 minutes of awkward silence came until my mom spoke up "How's school so far?" she asked "Good. Good." I nodded my head "Have you met anyone, honey?" Woah, she was fast "Ummmm." I mumbled "So you did! What's his name?" I shook my head at my mom's fangirling "Jesus Christ, Mom. Just because I 'met someone', that doesn't mean I met a guy. I let out a small scoff "But it is a guy isn't it?" she said while nudging my side "Mom, just take me to Starbucks. I'm in desperate need for a drink." she threw her hands up in defense "Okay, okay. Starbucks it is. But remember, no coffee." Who the hell goes to Starbucks and not drink coffee?! Oh, yeah, cancer patients.

We found an empty parking lot at Starbucks, walking inside my mom said "You order the drinks alright? I have to pee so bad!" she said while running to the bathroom. I walked to the counter aimlessly, when I felt a bump on my shoulder that sent me toppling back and hot coffee spilling all over me. I was about to fall back and possibly die, when I felt a hand grasp my wrist tightly.

"Crap...I mean sorry.." I had heard that voice before. I looked up and saw Caspian Carter. He helped me up and grabbed some tissues to wipe my shirt "Don't worry about it." I said, still looking at Caspian. He looked up at me when I talked "Well, well. If it isn't Lexi Chapman, fancy meeting you here." he said witth a smirk on his face. I couldn't help the blush that formed on my face. I turned around to see if my mom had gone out of the bathroom yet, hopefully, she hadn't. I turned back to Caspian who was still wiping the spilled coffee off of my shirt "Hey, don't sweat it. I'm good." I said still looking at his sea foam green eyes "Can I get you anything? I mean it's the least I can do after spilling my drink on you." he said "No thanks. I'm not allowed to drink coffee anyway." I said to him "Why not?" he asked back "Oh, you know, my medication..." I let my voice wander on 'medication' "Oh yeah, sorry. Didn't mean to bring that up again." his eyes looked so beautiful when he was sorry.

Just when Caspian and I were about to keep talking, my mom walked in "Lexi? What happened?" she asked "Nothing Mom, I'm fine. Just some spilled coffee." I explained to my mom. Her eyes wandered to Caspian "Who is this?" My mom looked at me, then back at Caspian "Oh, this is my friend, Caspian." Caspian stood up and shook my mom's hand "Nice to meeg you, Mrs. Chapman." To my surprise, my mom returned his handshake "Oh, so you're Lexi's friend." her gaze went to me, a smirk formed onnher face. "Well, Lexi, it's time to go. After all, we have to change you out of those wet clothes." and with that, I found following my mom out of Starbucks.

"Bye Caspian."

"Bye Lexi."
