Alex
There was a complete DISASTER when Hannah broke the news to everybody. Lara, Jackson, and the Chinese Lawyer who he had yet to learn the name were yelling at each other. Kasumi, the Japanese cook, was crying. Rohan started to count how many days they had left.
At the end of 6 huge debates, 3 not exactly formal cursing fests, and 1 massive fist fight, Lara started to talk again.
"Right then!" she yelled at the noisy crowd. "We're splitting up into 6 and 10. 6 of us will go out to fix the system while the rest will watch here and stay behind. Anourak, Hannah, Alex, and Zera would come with me as the six since their roles are crucial to this mission."
Somehow, Zera did not look happy about working with neither Anourak or Lara.
"Jiho will also come with me while Irina stays on the other side to get signals."
They nod.
"And the rest of you will stay here with Jackson." Lara shoot a glare at the boy navigator. "Everything clear?"
A hand shot up from next to him. He winced back as he recognized Maria.
"Yes?" Lara asked
"Umm... I believe I should come too." she said.
Alex's heart thumped. This trip was nervous enough already but with HER?
"And why is that? Keep in mind that we can't have 7 or more people outside at once."
"Yes, and that's why I am volunteering to take your place. According to my calculations, there's an asteroid that's about to hit our ship."
Alex heard somebody, probably Zane, curse under his breath. Murphy's law. He thought
"I think what she's saying is perfectly reasonable." Said Jackson, eyeing Lara.
Lara sighed. "But who would give the orders then?"
Irina waved her hand like mad. "Ummm... hello? Don't underestimate us. We communicators will tell them EVERYTHING they need to do."
Lara looked at everybody and nodded. "Right then. Positions everyone!"

Most of the work went smoothly. Alex monitored Zera while she fixed the system. Hannah nodded approvingly to every step they took, although Anourak did look a bit skeptical. But... he seemed to be skeptical about everything Zera did and the actions were mutual so not much to take account.
It seemed as if things were going a bit... too smoothly.
"How much until the asteroid collides Maria?" he heard Zera yell.
"15 minutes." Maria yelled. "Enough time."
Alex nodded, then looked around and gaped. An astoundingly huge rock was making it's way towards the ship at an immense speed. "Are you sure it's 15 minutes? Because... I think I'm starting to see it."
Maria turned and sure enough, she saw it. From her face, it seemed as if a scream was coming out. "Shoot! 15 seconds not minutes! Everybody, get back!" She yelled.
"But then we'll starve to death!" Hannah protested.
Maria seemed to think for a moment then sighed. "Alright then. You guys go back. I'll try to get that thing away from the ship!"
"Too late now..." Anourak's voice said. "It's already far too close."
"It's about 3 seconds away!" Zera yelled. "Maria do something!"
She shook her head sadly. "My fault... sorry everybody."
2 seconds.
She reached out, in the position to fight.
1 second.
Alex didn't know what had gotten into him. He didn't even know this girl.
But the next thing he knew, he was lunging forward, hugging her with all his might as the mighty asteroid scraped his back.
A/N: On THAT note, who do you guys ship Alex with?
Augusta or Maria?
