An old man stood all alone in a room full of screens and control panels, surrounded by glass.

He checked one of the screens. T-30min until launch.

He stared out of the window looking out at the crumbling Earth ahead of him. Mother planet was dying, thanks to the non-stop development governments continued to carry on, despite various warnings.

He too had ignored them. He too was a part of this.

And thanks to his awful decision, and the one of others for that matter, the future generations were suffering.

Icebergs melted down, decreasing the land people can live in.

Even if there was land, Geostorms made it seem impossible to survive.

Sure enough, not a lot of crops did. As a result, food shortage became the next problem.

All of this was fatal. The future of human kind was in danger. He too have regretted the decision he took as a young adult.

So instead, he proposed a new solution. One, that he could do in his reach as a professor.

Right now, all across the world, people were watching the 16 selected young adults that were the future of human kind. Together, they would travel about a year to another planet called ZUCKER-XD-049 and bring the rebirth of human kind.

8 boys and 8 girls. All of different backgrounds. He had trained them all himself.

And even if they didn't know each other yet, he was sure they would get along. They were a brilliant bunch.

He sighed as he stepped up to the podium, holding onto the mike. He could see the faces of the 16 children he now felt as his own.

He smiled at them.

They smiled back.

"Now everybody." He started. "Today is a special day. You will be the ones to carry on the future of human kind. So, it is mandatory that you go through a special oath before launch. Understood?"

All 16 of them nodded.

He looked at list and read out the first name. "Lara Frost, 19, Navigator, American. Would you, no matter what cost, put the survival of humanity over everything and never abandon your mission?"

"Of course." The girl nodded.

"Good." He turned to the next one. "Rohan Malhotra, 19, Singaporean, Doctor. Would you, no matter what cost, put the survival of humanity over everything and never abandon your mission?"

"Bring it on!" He said enthusiastically.

The professor couldn't help but smile as he went on to the next one. Then the next. Hailey the athletic. Zane the risktaker. Kasumi the cook and so far so on.

After the 15th, Damien, he felt a sudden pain in his throat. The continuous Geostorms and breezes mixed with Sand and Dust was taking on their toll on his old body.

But he had to get through this.

"Zera Slater, 17..." he coughed as he read out the last oath. "Engineer.... Australian...." he coughed again. "Would you at any cost....."

His voice broke. He wheezed. He checked the control panel screen again.

T-30 sec until launch.

There definitely wasn't enough time. He couldn't continue. He would have to let them go.

"Leave!" He shouted. "Save everyone!"

They all nodded uncertainly, looking concerned.

"Don't worry about me." He said, "now go!"

T- 3. 2. 1.

The rocket boosted upwards, resulting in a series of clappings. The launch was successful to start with. A wonderful start.

The old professor watched proudly, then coughed several times more. He wasn't sure how longer he would last in this world, but as long as they would survive, it didn't matter to him.

But one thing slipped his mind like a small piece of smooth pebble. His old mind had missed to remember the small piece of fact that might end up being crucial.

Zera Slater had never made the oath.

A/N: So how was the prologue everyone? Feedback in the comments please!

Also, I have deleted the fundraising function so no need to worry about that.

At the end of every chapter, you will be able to give your personal opinions on various ships which i think would be very fun.

Lastly, I am thinking of weekly updates since I'm also pretty busy right now and can't always be writing. However, under some circumstances, updates might become more often or less often

So that's all for today. See you in the next and the first chapter!
