Hannah

After everybody  had been dismissed, Hannah decided to have a little adventure. The drama that had just taken place was a bit too much for her. She preferred the forest and the plants, where everything was quiet and she could work all alone.

She went upstairs, where the magnificent arboretum was waiting for her.

Ah how she loved trees.

She absolutely adored nature. In fact, Hannah had a whole plan to recreate a forest at their new home planet. She was the biologist. Surely she had the authority to do that.

She felt something squishy under her foot. She lifted it up and gasped. It was the Cunctis Prospere, a special fungus, one of the most needed to produce good food. Of course, they were artificial. But in the recent years, Earth was in emergent need of them. The price was astronomical, making Hannah wonder how in the world the Professor had managed to get them.

But then of course, he was THE professor who was sending 16 young people outer space.

Suddenly, she started to hear voices. Not wanting to face anybody, she hid.

"The professor told me to get in touch with him as soon as we went into orbit." A male voice said.

"Yeah same. I'm not sure if we're there yet though." A female voice answered. "Luckily, I got to talk to you about more important problems before that."

Hannah looked around to see an Asian boy and a petite blond girl talking.

Holy crap. She had been so occupied of her ideas and had been so used to working alone, she had forgotten to talk to the other biologist, whoever he was.

The other two must have noticed her too. The boy smiled as they approached.

"Hey." He smiled. "You must be Hannah, the biologist. Anourak was looking for you."

Anourak. The other biologist. The guy she had forgotten to talk to. She nodded at him. How did that boy know everybody already anyway?

"I'm Jiho and this is Irina." He introduces himself. The girl next to him waves and grins. "Hello there."

She smiles back at her. They seemed like friendly enough people. "What were you doing here anyways? You're surely not biologists. Nor doctors I suppose."

Irina laughs. "Goodness no. Even I can't trust myself when it comes to healing. We're communicators, but we just decided to take a walk since the "Leaders"  took our normal spot."

"I mean, it's also their spot. They're navigators." Jiho reminds her.

Irina twitches her lips. "True."

Hannah watched them talk, feeling like a third wheel. She couldn't believe how fast the two had became friends. In fact, she doubted anyone would trust her besides these two during the journey. Assuming that they trusted her that is.

Loneliness was always her worst spot.

"Since we're just taking a walk, would you like to come with us?" Jiho offered.

"Sure..." Hannah accepted. Huh, strange. She was obviously going to be the third wheel the whole time. So why was her heart beating like mad?

"Awesome!" he grinned. "I'm so glad you're joining us."

Another thump. Ugh stop.

Right then, in a flash, The lights had turned off.

"What's happening?" Irina shouted as she turned on a flashlight. Thank god she had one because without it, nothing was visible.

"I don't know!" Jiho told her. "I'm wondering  if the others are having the same problem. Any guesses why this is happening Hannah?"

Suddenly, something hit her. She couldn't think of WHY this was happening, but she could surely think of WHAT kind of problems this could cause.

"No no no no no no no no..." She whispered to herself like a mad person.

"No what?" Jiho and Irina asked at the same time.

She looked at both of them. "We need to go upstairs and find Anourak and the two Engineers."

"But why?" Jiho asked her

"The Cunctis Prospere. They can't live without light, and half the crops can't live without them. If we don't fix this, we'll all starve to death."

Irina's eyes widen. "I believe the repairing takes about 10 hours on average. How long do we have until, you know, they all die out?"

Hannah sighed as she looked at her. "10 hours at the most."
