Edith was one to dress with her moods. Some days she wanted to match, some days she wanted to stand out, and some days she wanted to blend in. This was one of her stand out days. I wore a simple pair of ripped jeans and a shirt while she had on extremely small shorts and a long sleeve crop top shirt that could fit a small child. I didn't tell her we were going skating with Kit Richardson but I did mention that a bunch of cute guys would be there.

"Men like skin. Only insecure boys comment on what a woman has to wear." She tied up the last of her skate laces then stood up with both hands on her hips. "We're looking for men."

I rolled my eyes as I tried to balance myself without sliding straight down to my ass. "I would have went with that similar attire but... I'm kind of cold." In reality, my stomach was a bit on the chubby side. I wouldn't have looked good. "So..."

"Cold? Once you get out on to the floor it won't even matter." She grabbed my hand and yanked me to the railing that looked over the entire rink. Everyone seemed to be having fun and flying around the floor like no ones business. "That man is sweating so hard it probably feels like a water park." We both giggled as she pointed him out. "And that guy... don't even get me started."

"You made it!" We both turned around to see Kit and five other people approaching us as if we were all close friends. "When you didn't give me a yes or no I started to worry." He gave me a side hug which threw me off guard. He then shook Edith's hand despite her being frozen in her spot. "We're you both just about to step out?"

"Yes-" I started but that answer wasn't good enough for Edith.

"Actually! We were about to but we can wait for you all to get... situated." Kit nodded once then turned to his friends and exchanged a few words. They then went to the counter to get skates while we stood back awkwardly. "Why the fuck didn't you tell me we were going skating with Kit and the baseball team?"

I shrugged nervously. "I did tell you there would be hot guys."

"You didn't tell me there would be hot guys from our school! That's so uncool of you. Look how I look? I'm dressed like a fucking... Sophia Garcia on crack."

I couldn't believe she would even say something like that. Putting herself in the same box as Sophia has never been a thing that we or even she has done. Was my friend really falling apart at the seems. Was she trying to prove herself to be better or worse than Sophia? Was there anything I could even do about it?

"Edith... you have no idea that you look perfect tonight. You came out wearing the boldest thing you could find in your closet. I don't even know a handful of girls who even have the courage."

She threw her hands in the air while plopping down on the nearest chair. "What does it all matter when it gets no ones attention?" We both looked over our shoulders to see one of Kit's friends skating over into our direction. Edith stood up to fix her hair which involved jumping out of her slump.

"Hey. I'm Noel." We both smiled at the man before us. His chocolate skin illuminated under the strobe lights and his smile was the whitest thing I have ever seen. "Are you good at skating."

Edith looked back at me although he was clearly talking to her. I nudged her in the back to give her the jumpstart to say anything other than nothing. "I did a few rounds around the rink when I was younger. Maybe I'm a bit dusty now." She blushed while tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.

"If you don't mind... I can teach you?"

She looked back at me once again. I used our eye language to urge her to say yes and she quickly did. "I don't mind at all." She held her hand out for him to take and before I knew it, they were out on the slippery floor.
