From Mystery to Romance

A Xander Chapter: Identical

Emily rang the doorbell. 

We were both scared about meeting South. 

This was going to be the day we saw a girl who looked exactly like a girl who is now living in California. She doesn't know that her whole family was in sunny California while she was in chilly Alaska.

A lady with reddish-brownish hair appeared to us, "You must be Emily and Xander!"

"Uh, yeah. Where here to talk about South." I reminded her.

"Of course, come in." The lady leads the way.

She was Andrella like the lady that was shown in her Instagram photos.

"Why did you adopt South?" Emily asked.

Andrella set her cup of coffee down, "I'm a widow. I was all alone in this house and I was extremely depressed. I adored children and I decided to foster some kids. I fostered one boy and soon adopted him. He once asked me if he can have a sister. So, I adopted South!"

"I'm sorry about your husband," I said.

"Me too," Emily stared at the ground. She also knew how it felt for someone to die.

"Does she know about her sister?" I asked.

Andrella shook her head, "She doesn't even know she's adopted."

"How about her brother?" Emily asked.

"Her brother knows she's adopted, just doesn't know about her past or her sister," Andrella explained.

Emily and I looked at each other. We were thinking the same thing.

How were we going to explain this to South and North?

"Where's South?" I asked.

Andrella was about to answer until the door opened. Our answer came to us. There was a boy who opened the door for a girl.

A girl who I almost mistook as North.

She had the same brown hair. The same height. The same face.

The only thing different was that this girl had blue eyes, like her mother's.

Emily and I got up and walked up to the kids. 

Emily's lips were trembling. I'm not surprised why.

"We did it, Xander," Emily whispered, "We did it."
