The Party

The week flew by relatively quickly as the plans for ZARZAR's fashion show fell into place. Salem and I got along very well and she had faith that my article would put her name on the map even more than it already was. Orion and I spent a few nights at Enya and Drew's growing our friendships even more. Finally Friday arrived and the biggest night of my new life here was staring me in the face. That morning I leaped out of bed and rushed to get ready before going to the kitchen to make a coffee.

"Oh thank god you're awake. I need caffeine badly", a familiar voice broke the silence as it spoke from the living room. I twisted my head out the kitchen doorway and saw Enya sitting crisscross on the couch with a sketchbook in front of her and a pencil in hand. "Hey. I didn't know you were coming over this morning", I stated as I turned around to put the coffee pot on and headed into the living room. I sat down next to Enya with the sketchbook lying between us. "I actually haven't slept. I wanted to come over and see you guys so I just drove over here. Orion let me in and then went right back to sleep". I chuckled softly and looked down at her drawing.

"I love this. I've never seen your art before. You act like it's some cursed image or something" I said, not lifting my gaze from the softly drawn lines on the page. "My art is a cursed image. I love to draw but I always criticize my own work too much". I felt her eyes move from the sketchbook and land on my face causing me to look up and meet her gaze with a smile, "I know what you mean". Enya's cheeks started to be tinted with a light pink and her eyes fell to the floor. I smirked and got up to turn off the coffee pot with Enya trailing slightly behind me. As she washed her hands, I pulled two mugs from the cabinet and filled them with the black liquid before handing one to her. We stood in the kitchen with our hands gripping the cups and sipping slowly.

"So the fashion show is tonight. I'm really excited. Drew and I already started planning our outfits. He's considering going to the event dressed like a bag of hot Cheetos". A burst of laughter erupted from my mouth at the thought of Drew at a fashion show with a hot Cheeto outfit on. "Please convince him to come in that. I just have to see it" I responded back to Enya causing her to laugh as well. I never got used to the butterflies that sound gave me. It left me staring at her chuckle and drink her coffee as Orion entered the kitchen. "Good morning angels. Even though it's not really a good morning because I've been woken up TWICE now". Enya apologized, but I couldn't stop looking at her. She had this energy around her that felt so healing.

I finally shook my head and walked back out to the living room with the other two girls following. Orion sat next to me on the couch and Enya sat on the floor. "Have you planned your outfit yet Orion?" I asked to interrupt the silence. She nodded eagerly before answering, "Yup I sure did. I'm hella excited". We all chuckled softly and I felt Enya's eyes on me, but I kept mine on my mug. The rest of the morning was peaceful as Orion, Enya and I chatted. After about an hour Enya headed back home to get ready, and Orion and I did the same.

As the time for the fashion show rolled around, Salem and I sat backstage as I got some final notes for my article. "You're such a focused writer. I feel like you managed to write down every single thing I said or did this week". "What can I say? I pay attention to detail" I responded with a grin. Salem chuckled and the stage manager called out for everyone to get in positions. "Okay go rock that runway Salem you look amazing". I gave her a quick hug before rushing to my seat.

Orion, Enya, and Drew were already there with my seat in between the latter two. "Drew you didn't wear your hot cheeto dress? I'm disappointed" I whispered at him as the lights dimmed. "I know, Enya forced me to dress normal so we don't embarrass you at your work place" he whispered back. I had to stifle a laugh as I imagined Enya forcing Drew to change outfits.

The show went off without a hitch, but I was so relieved to exit the frantic space and get into Orion's car. "So where we headed?" I asked from the back seat. Drew twisted around from the passenger seat and shoved his index finger over my lips "Shhh" before spinning back around. Enya started cackling from beside me which caused me to laugh as well, but I didn't ask anymore questions.

We ended up at Enya and Drew's place and I figured we were just having a little chill night again. When Enya unlocked the door and pushed it open, she looked back at me waiting for my response. I stepped into the apartment and saw party store decorations on the wall. Before I could speak, Christian, Elisa, Josiah and Josh jumped out from behind the couch and screamed "Surprise after party!!!" I couldn't stop the grin from spreading across my face like a wild fire. "Oh my gosh guys! This is awesome" I spun around to look at Enya who was just smiling. "Okay let's get this party started and roll some blernts" Drew said as he pushed past me and sat on the couch.

I rolled my eyes jokingly and went up to the taki bag in the middle of the coffee table. When I lifted it up, it was extremely light. I opened the bag and saw it was empty. "There's literally nothing in here" I tossed the bag at Enya who responded "Excuse me?? There's definitely crumbs left in here. And you haven't even ripped the bag open and licked the sides so I wouldn't say nothing" I laughed as I fake punched her arm and joined Drew on the couch. Josh went to his room and came back out with a bag of weed and rolling papers.

I plugged my phone into the AUX and chatted with everyone as Josh prepared the main event. When he was finally done, there were three neatly rolled joints on the table. We arranged ourselves in a circle and started to spark and pass them as we still talked and laughed about everything. By the time we were done with all three, everyone was pretty high. Enya was next to me looking at herself on the Instagram camera. "I'm literally the prettiest and sexiest person ever" She stated, never taking her eyes off the camera. I chuckled and leaned over to her so I could be in the camera too. "Holy shit Eden you're so pretty" she said finally breaking her trance to meet my eyes. I felt my face get hot, but I tried to stay confident, "you're just now realizing this?"

"Umm actually you're both fucking ugly. You can't be the sexiest when I exist" Drew said before getting up and striking multiple poses causing us all to laugh. Enya laughed so hard she fell back and rested her head on my shoulder. Before I could stop myself I was softly stroking her hair. The vivid red was extremely captivating. The rest of the night went the same. We all joked and ate snacks while listening to music. Before we knew it, it was around 2am. "I cannot drive home right now, I'll fall asleep at the wheel" Orion said as she made eye contact with me. Enya and Drew were in the kitchen making hot dogs and Josh already went back to his room. Josiah had left a few hours ago and Christian and Elisa were sleeping together on the couch. "Let's just crash here" I stated agreeing with her statement about not being able to drive. She nodded and motioned for me to follow her to the kitchen.

"Eden and Orion! You're still here" Enya said with a half eaten hotdog in her hand. I smiled at her, still looking beautiful in all that she does. I shook my head. I'm supposed to be killing this crush not leaning into it. "Okay I'm going to bed I'm tired of you greasy people" Drew walked out with a red Bull and hotdog in hand. Orion gave me a small smirk before saying "you're not getting rid of me. I'm crashing in your room" and following him out. Enya watched them leave, and I watched her. The silence suddenly chilling. "So you'll be sleeping with me?" She asked causing my face to get hot again. I nodded, "you can finish your hotdog I'm gonna go in your room".

When I pulled her door open I was met with the smell that had become my favorite: coffee and lavender. I pulled off my shirt and skirt leaving me on a tank top and shorts before I climbed into her bed and under the blanket. A few minutes later Enya came into the room with two bottles of water. "I didn't know if you wanted me to sleep on the floor so I just got in the bed, but I can move if you-" "Why would you sleep on the floor?" She interrupted and pulled her pants off before climbing into the blanket with me.

I was suddenly very aware of her presence close to me. Her presence with only panties on. My face got hot again and she handed me a water bottle. I chugged half of it and reached to place it on the floor. When I turned back around she was laying on her side and looking at me. I matched her position and stared at her eyes. She looked so good in the dim light of her bedroom. I scooted a bit closer so that I could feel her breath in my face. "Can I kiss you?" I asked quickly not even sure why that came out of my mouth. She nodded and shut her eyes softly. I closed the space between us and placed my lips on hers. It was perfect. Beyond perfect. Her lips felt warm and soft and my hand reached up to touch her face which was slightly cold.

I pulled back and put my arm around her waist before closing my eyes to sleep.
