Truth Comes to Light

Orion and I spent the night watching old French movies in the living room with Lolita between us. My nights with her were always peaceful. Sometimes it felt like I was coming home to my wife of ten years. It surprises me everyday how close we got in these two months, but living with someone will do that to you.

The next morning I woke up to the smell of breakfast being made and fresh coffee. I quickly brushed my teeth and rushed to the kitchen to see Orion standing over the stove. "Good morning roomie! What you making?" I asked as I stepped in the kitchen to pour myself a cup of coffee. "Good morning! I'm making pancakes and eggs. Nothing fancy. Can you grab the strawberries from the fridge though? I think some fresh fruits would be a good touch to this basic breakfast". I set my mug on the counter and moved around her to the fridge while saying, "There's nothing basic about this. Home cooked breakfast is always a luxury to me". I handed her to strawberries and began to pull out plates and utensils for us to use.

After she finished cooking, Orion and I sat in the living room enjoying our breakfast and watching a random season of America's Next Top Model. "Tyra is actually awful to these girls. I never noticed that when I used to watch this show before", I stated, sipping my second cup of coffee. Orion nodded, "the modeling business is tough, but it's gotten a lot better since the early 2000s". We continued to eat and the decided that we should invite Enya to go shopping with us in a few hours.

For our shopping day, I decided to wear low waist True Religon jeans, a distressed AC/DC shirt and black platform shoes. I put my hair into a puff again to avoid the heat I know would come if my hair remained out. Once Orion was dressed, we got in the car to go pick up Enya. On the way to the shopping area of the city, the three of us sang along to my playlist and chatted about our morning. I was happy that the awkwardness between Enya and I had dissipated because girl time with her and Orion was my favorite way to spend my weekends.

We spent a few hours shopping before we decided to go back to Enya's apartment. When we entered, we saw Drew, Finn and Jack playing Uno in the living room. Jack spoke first, "I've never seen you before. I'm Jack" he stood up and stuck his hand out to me excitedly. I recognized him from the movie "It" that he was in with Finn as well as the posts on Instagram they had together. "I'm Eden. I just moved here like two months ago from NYC". "Oh cool! Do you want to play Uno with us? You know Finn already right? I think he told me he met Drew's new friend already I'm not sure". I smiled at his rapid speech and sat down next to them on the floor to play Uno.

Finn, who was seated next to me extended his arms for a hug. "Oh my gosh Finn it's been so long. I'm glad you're back in LA for a bit". "Yeah I know. I've been crazy busy with press, and filming for the next season of Stranger Things starts soon so I'll be back to work in like two weeks". I felt bad for him, he was only 19 but worked so hard that he seemed to be burnt out already. I decided that we would make his few weeks free from work extremely fun.

The day seemed to speed by because after a few rounds of Uno we noticed the sun starting to set. "Okay since we're all here and it's Saturday let's make this a party/sleepover" Drew stated facing the group. We all nodded, and he ran to grab a speaker from his room. Once he connected to the Bluetooth and got the music going, we all stood up and danced. Jack was the most animated which kept us all excited and on our toes as well. Because we had minors with us, we stuck to drinking Redbull and eating snacks.

After about an hour and a half, Jack and Drew were still dancing, Finn and Orion went to the kitchen to scrape together some more snacks and Enya came to sit next to me on the couch. "So I spoke to Roy yesterday after you left. He came over.", she started. I raised my eyebrows to signal her to continue, so she did. "I told him everything I told you, and he insisted that his possessiveness was just a fear of losing me. He also agreed that it felt like I was outgrowing him. After like an hour talking it all through we decided to just call it. I cried a bit because he's been my boyfriend for so long, and I hated hurting him by ending things. I just feel like a different person than I was when we got together". I nodded and when I saw tears swelling in her eyes I pulled her close to me in a hug.

While hugging her I was reminded of the poem I left in her room. Because she didn't bring it up, I could only assume she had not seen it yet. "Enya, go in your room and open your sketchbook. There's something in there that might cheer you up". She looked at me with confused eyes, and I smirked at her. Finally she nodded and got up to go to her room. I got up as well to join Drew and Jack as they danced.

Enya's POV

I wasn't sure why Eden wanted me to open my sketchbook, but I went and did it anyways, making sure to shut the door behind me. I sat in my chair and pulled my sketchbook towards me. When I opened the cover, I noticed a notebook paper sitting there with pristine handwriting that could only belong to Eden. "Enya", I read the first line aloud. That's when I realized it was the title to a poem. Her poem.

I read over the words she wrote and was enchanted by them. To believe she wrote this about me. To believe she actually noticed all these small things about me, it didn't make sense. After I finished the poem, I read it twice more and tears filled my eyes. I had noticed a weird pull to Eden that I couldn't explain. When she kissed me, it felt right, but I've never dated a girl before let alone kissed one. I was so confused about all of these feelings I felt towards her. All I knew was that she made me feel so safe, but I just broke up with Roy.

Finally, I decided I would just call her in here and tell her that I felt what she felt but it might take a while for me to sort all the feelings out and be something to her. I knew she would understand. I wiped my eyes and stepped back into the living room. Orion, Drew and Jack were there, but Eden and Finn were not.

Eden's POV

Shortly after I got up to dance, Orion came out the kitchen. "What's Finn doing in that kitchen? Creating the cure for cancer? Tell him to come out here" Drew yelled over the music. Orion laughed and said "He's going to bring the snacks out now". I realized that I was thirsty then so I headed into the kitchen and was met with Finn's tall figure.

"Hey Finn. Thanks for making more snacks. Everyone was getting hungry again". He turned around and I noticed a v between his eyebrows. "What's wrong?". He looked at me for a moment before speaking. "I'm not sure if I should say anything, but Drew told me that you and Enya were weirdly flirtatious so I'm just going to come out and say it. Orion has a crush on you. She just told me that she's starting to catch feelings, but sometimes you and Enya seem too close". I stood in shock facing Finn in the kitchen. Not knowing how to process this all.

"So? Is something going on between you and Enya?" He asked after about a minute of me standing there frozen. "Yes I have feelings for her Finn. I have had feelings for her since I met her, and I tried to ignore it but I can't. I don't know what to do this is all so confusing". That's when Finn's eyes moved from mine to something behind me. I turned around and saw Orion standing there looking absolutely crushed. What have I done? Have I ruined everything?
