Starting Fresh

Two Weeks Later.....

After spending a little while longer in the hospital, I was able to go home and get ready to fly back to L.A. where I would continue meeting with a therapist online every week.

Back in L.A., Orion and I rarely saw each other because she was working non stop on a commercial for Gucci while also preparing to put out her next book. I was bedridden for the most part anyways because I had to wear crutches for three weeks. It let me do a lot of writing for ZARZAR, but also creative writing.

Finn, Drew, Elisa and Christian had each visited over the week I had been stuck in the house. It was good to be reminded that I still had their friendship. Though I didn't get to talk to Enya at all. Because I hadn't spoken to Enya in so long, I decided to call her up. It was a Friday, so I knew she wouldn't be too busy.

An hour after texting her to come over, Enya knocked on my apartment door and I told her to come in. "I'll meet you in the living room", I yelled as I heard her entering the apartment. As quickly as I could, I got up, got my crutches and went to the living room. "These crutches ruin all my outfits", I said again before sitting down next to her on the couch. Enya chuckled softly before speaking. "I'm glad you invited me over. I wanted to come see you, but I just wasn't really sure what I would say to you". I nodded. "Well I don't think there's much to say. I've been thinking a lot. Maybe we should just start fresh and go back to being friends. Trying to choose who I'm going to become more than friends with is just causing an unnecessary riff in the group", I replied.

"You're right. Friends then. So Drew is supposed to be meeting me at Sweetgreen. Should I tell him to come here instead?" Enya asked, pulling out her phone. I nodded.

Not too long after that, Drew knocked on the door, and when Enya opened it he spoke immediately. "Let's watch Twilight. It's a little cloudy today." I yelled "YES absolutely!" at the same time that Enya groaned and said "please no". "Um don't you have a Twilight sweater that you always wear? You're such a poser. Plus nobody watches Twilight for the plot. You watch it to laugh at" Drew rebutted causing Enya to nod in agreement.

I pushed myself off the couch to emphasize my point before saying, "Actually Mr.Film critic, I watch Twilight for the plot. I read the books too". Drew came and sat on the floor next to the couch and said, "I always knew you had bad taste when you started crushing on Enya". Despite the subject being fresh, Enya and I couldn't help but laugh at Drew's comment. I was just glad for the normalcy to be returning, and I'm sure Enya was too.

As the sun started to set, Orion came into the apartment in a frenzy from a busy day. "I didn't know we were having people over today", she said raising an eyebrow at me. "Sorry it wasn't really planned. I just put the kettle on because I knew you'd be home from work soon and probably stressed. The water should be done soon and you can have tea", I responded kindly, hoping to show Orion that I wanted things to go back to normal. Her furrowed eyebrows loosened and a smile crept on the side of her mouth as she placed her bags on the coffee table and went to make tea.

I limped into the kitchen to have a moment with her. "Hey. So I see things have been mended with Enya. Are you guys going to try and make that work?" Orion asked without looking up from the cup of tea she was assembling. "We agreed to start fresh and go back to being friends. All of us should. I don't want to gain some romantic satisfaction at the expense of the rest of the friend group". Orion spun around and hugged me, almost knocking me over. "Broken leg here", I murmured from her chest which she had pulled me tightly into. "Sorry. I forgot for a second. I just wanted my friend back because things were so weird." I nodded, not breaking the hug until I heard Drew call for us from the living room.

The rest of the night was calm as we all watched a movie and ate snacks. When Enya and Drew left, Orion helped me walk back to my room, despite my protests, and sat on the edge of my bed. "So how's this commercial thing coming along? Are you almost done? I'm excited to see it". Something that resembled glitter flashed across Orion's eyes as she began rambling about working with Gucci and how exciting it was. It caused me to smile just seeing her talk about her job so passionately. I started to tell her about the creative writing piece I was working on. Then it was me rambling about my own passions.

We stayed up talking about everything under the sun. Like we needed to get out all the words we couldn't speak during the past few awkward weeks. It was refreshing to just spill it all with Orion again like two teenage girls having their first sleepover. She really was my best friend. I would always put that before anything. Even romance.

A/n: Just a short chapter for today because I've been having crazy writers block. I think I'm going to update one or two chapters this weekend.
