Carlos stared at his wife in disbelief.
He wanted to be angry and throw a fit, but what right did he have? He slept with their baby sitter.
"Do you regret it?"
He questioned as she nodded.
"Everyday I do. I invited insecurity and distrust into our marriage that led to more chaos. I guess that's why I'm always snapping at you, because I want you to be the bad guy alone, but I also have my part to play."
Carlos wiped the tear that rolled down her cheek.
"I'm sorry."
She whispered and Carlos didn't need to hear the words to know that he'd held nothing against her.
He could argue and declare that she cheated first, but what good would that do him?
It wouldn't repair his marriage.
"Do you think we can overcome this?"
He questioned as her shoulders rose and fell.
"I don't know Carlos. I don't want to lie and say that we can when there are days that I just don't trust you. And now you have your own two pills to swallow. I feel like only time will tell but I also don't want to string you along."
"String me along."
He blurted out.
"I don't care Jewel, use me as much as you'd like up until the moment you decide that you no longer want me. I want to at least tell the kids that we tried."
She wiped at her eyes as she nodded.
"Have you spoken to Summer since?"
Carlos shook his head.
"She's reached out but I haven't responded."
He pulled his phone out of his pocket, showing Jewel the thread of text messages.
He saw his wife's facial expression change as she read the messages from Summer.
"Do you plan to talk to her?"
