The ambulance pulled into the emergency entrance as doctors ran towards the van.

As the doors open, Mya was transported inside, an air vent attached to her face as Jewel tried to keep up with the doctors.

"M'am we're going to have to ask you to wait out here while we operate."

Jewel could only nod in response. Numbness consuming her.

She sat on the chair, her mind racing with thoughts.

Maybe she should have kept Mya at home, but would the house still have exploded?

Was Kharyi okay?

Did they also rush Carlos to the hospital?

Was he okay?

"Jewel."

The familiar voice said as she stared at the woman who infiltrated her home and slept with her husband.

The text messages she'd sent Carlos replayed in Jewel's mind. She was a nurse now.

Summer walked towards her.

"It's all over the news. I came to help."

Jewel shook her head.

"Help, by staying away from my family."

Empathy was etched in the woman's eyes.

"Jewel I know you're not happy with me, I don't have an excuse for what I did but I know Mya better than anyone in that room. Let me assist, I'd update you along the way."

As much as Jewel didn't trust the woman, she knew she was right.

Summer was her inside ticket to finding out about her daughter.

"Okay. And Carlos, I think they brought him here."

Summer's eyes widened and Jewel saw it there and then, the change in her facial features. She cared for him.

The thought alone irked Jewel, but she had to put that aside for now.

"He's here?"

Jewel nodded.

"I just need to know the room number and if he's okay."

Summer nodded as she rushed back into the designated area only for staff members.

Jewel's feet tapped against the hardwood floors.

She couldn't lose Mya. She'd arrived years after Jeston and she'd been the glue that held their little family together.

Her love, her grace and her kindness held them together.

Jewel wiped at her tears.

She couldn't lose Carlos either. He was the most amazing father that she could ever ask for, if she had to do it all over again, she'd choose him in a heartbeat, even knowing what she knew now.

Because with him, the kids always came first. Above himself and his career, Jeston and Mya were his life.

It was why she'd chosen him all those years ago. When he'd mentioned the terrible person that his father was and his desire to be better than his father ever was.

Jewel saw it there and then, the determination in his eyes that he would be better and she believed it.

He had not been the best husband when it came to infidelity, but when it came to fathering their two kids, he was the best.

"Jew."

Jasmine wrapped her arms around her sister as Jewel let out the sobs she'd been holding in.

"They're both in there and I have no idea what's going on. My was unconscious and Los collapsed. He collapsed Jas and I can't unsee it."
