Jewel saw the figure walking towards the exit as she drove and parked in front of the girl.
She rolled her window down as the girl's eyes widened.
"Mrs. Santiago."
"Hi Ariel. I wanted to recruit your help today but I didn't have your contact so I called in a favor."
Ariel nodded in response.
She saw the fear in the girl's eyes and Jewel bit her tongue to keep herself from laughing.
"Coming?"
Ariel hopped into the passenger seat as Jewel pulled onto the main road.
"So I know Jeston never formally introduced us, but I am Jeston's mother. Jewel Santiago."
She was trying to make the situation seem less awkward than it already was.
"I'm Ariel."
The girl's words were brief.
"Please note, this is not those chats where I kidnap my son's girlfriend and have the talk with her. I'm actually recruiting you to help decorate for his birthday party tomorrow."
Ariel's eyebrows rose.
"I thought..."
She stopped herself.
"He made it..."
She stopped again.
"Isn't he not getting a party because of his behavior before you know everything happened?"
Jewel nodded.
"His behavior honestly doesn't deserve a birthday party, but I think because of everything, a party with his friends might help him clear his head and cheer him up a bit."
"With no adult supervision?"
Ariel questioned as Jewel nodded.
"His coach has volunteered to drop in every two hours to ensure you're all doing behaving."
