"I'm sorry," she whispered.
She turned to go, but stopped and knelt down to tousle the short blond hair of a toddler, kissing him goodbye.

Brinnley angrily dashed away a year as she watched the solemn scene. Her father stood there, tall and muscular but silent. The one she had always looked up to, was doing nothing. She decided she couldn't blame him. It was her mother's own choice to leave. 'But why?' she thought angrily.

The toddler smiled and hugged his mother back, which only served to heighten the tantrum going on in Brinnley's head. She knew she should go out and day goodbye, but she was determined not to. Her mother was leaving and would never be coming back to her, so why did it matter if she even said goodbye?

Her father stated  for a moment, then turned on his heel and left the room.

"Vence...," her mother started then stopped, and with tears in her eyes she left.

Brinnley closed the door, eliminating the small crack that had allowed her to view her mother's final departure, and also leaving her toddler brother alone in the hall. Tears now streamed down her face and she couldn't bring herself to care that she has left him in the hall all alone.

Now that her mother was truly gone, a hatred for anything even remotely reminding Brinnley of her mother began to grow in her heart. She vowed to gain her father's favor, help him in whatever way he needed, help how her mother had never wanted to. She would leave her brother alone. Yes, she decided with a sneer, she would leave little Tauren all alone and unimportant, forever.

Ten years later, on another planet...

"Soon to be master of the universe,

Today I have discovered that our plan is virtually unstoppable, other than those four power kids you mentioned the other day. My research has allowed us to know that the first dwells on Earth, another two live on Mars, and the fourth currently resides on Venus. I have more detailed information, but as we live in a technological world, I would rather tell you the details through a way of technology much more dependable than writing this letter and wearing out my hand with this old fashioned way of communication.
The universe shall soon be ours my friend.

Your ever faithful sidekick,
Seith
