A/N: Hi guys, I'm really sorry for neglecting this story for a week. I've been busy with school and I don't think my updates will be really consistent anymore. Thank you so much for the 46 reads! Tbh I didn't think anyone would actually read this.
TW: Slight violence, fire, language
Selene sprinted through the undergrowth as fast as she could, tripping over tree roots and crunching on the dry leaves scattered in hundreds on the forest floor. Glancing at the sky, she monitored the sun's position from below the evergreen canopy, using it as a compass. Soon enough, the blackstone walls of L'manberg came into view. She hurtled through thick viridian bushes, finally tumbling into the gates of L'manberg.
Niki, Tubbo and Tommy spotted her first, running towards her as she halted her steps, panting for breath. They showered her with worried comments and Tommy's usual banter of profanities directed towards the 'green bastard'.
Selene, still out of breath, only managed to mumble a few words. "Must-see-Wilbur-Dream-fight-escape-Tubbo I can't breathe-" Tubbo was enveloping her in a bone-crushing hug, only letting go when Tommy pulled him off with great effort.
"Guys, give her space," Niki said, "she wants to see Wilbur."
Giving a grateful nod to her fellow female companion, Selene stumbled off to the flaming hot dog caravan, suddenly noticing that half of it was gone. Now that she thought about it, the ground of L'manberg was littered with craters and huge holes.
What had happened?
"Dream happened," Wilbur spoke out of nowhere, answering her unspoken question. Selene stumbled back in shock. Not because of Dream--that was obvious. But the fact that Wilbur had seemingly appeared out of thin air. Selene recollected herself and dove into a story of Dream attempting to recruit her, which led to her being kidnapped, and then escaping through yet another battle. Wilbur told her what happened and the fact that their leverage had been taken. She exchanged a few more sentences before excusing herself. All her hard work had gone to waste.
It was midnight now, and the stars had arisen. Unable to sleep, the green eyed girl lounged on a tree branch, her back against its trunk and her arm hanging earthwards lazily, her bow in hand. She tilted her head to the dark sky, wallowing in her own thoughts. Her memories brought back a specific sentence from a certain blondie back in her last battle.
She snorted out a laugh. Hot? Probably a sneaky move to try and distract her. However, she couldn't deny that her heart fluttered like a bird when he muttered that sentence, barely in earshot. Selene groaned, dragging her unoccupied hand down her face. She couldn't possibly like the man who had kidnapped her and fought her.
Could she?
She sighed, closing her eyes for a few moments, relaxing on the rough bark of the tree. A mistake. There was a brief rustling behind her, before a gloved hand covered her mouth. Selene's eyes flew open, writhing against the person's grasp. He hand leapt in front of her on the branch, keeping her pinned to the tree trunk. The moon broke through dark clouds, illuminating a white bandana wrapped firmly around her captors head. She glared fiercely at Sapnap, licking his hand repeatedly.
"Ew!" he shrieked, retracting his hand and hurriedly wiping it on his shirt. Selene rolled her eyes. "That was a really shit attempt if you were trying to kidnap me again," she glanced around, "alone?" He returned her glare, sitting cross legged on the branch opposite of her. Weirdly enough, neither of them felt intimidated by the other.
Sapnap sighed, bringing a hand up to rake his fingers through his hair. "I wanted to bring you back as a gift for Dream," he admitted. Selene raised an eyebrow, prompting him to elaborate.
He didn't.
Instead, he ranted about his feelings. "It's just, sometimes I feel like he cares more about George than me. They'll always be the duo of best friends and I'm just the second option. I thought if I got him a present he'd, I dunno, like me more."
Selene felt sympathy bubbling up in her, opening her mouth to give him comforting words when she remembered who he was. Basic human empathy was a bitch. She gave him an eyeroll.
"I don't appreciate being objectified." she muttered. Sapnap glared at her, as if he suddenly recalled their positions in life. "Whatever, you're coming with me."
He lunged at her, missing her fleeting body by just an inch. Selene jumped and swung through the branches and vines, with Sapnap hot on her trail. "Boo hoo, sucker," she yelled, "what a sob story." His eyes flickered with rage, increasing his pace. His flint-and-steel was now out, lighting the trees she leapt on on fire. She swung her arm over her mouth and nose, trying not to breathe in the rapidly advancing smoke. The ebony black walls of L'manberg had never looked so welcoming.
She jumped onto the top of them, and Sapnap followed her soon after. They circled each other like two lions fighting for territory, Sapnap lunging forwards first. Selene quickly sidestepped him, and tripped him over while he was still stumbling for balance. She dove onto him, ready to slit his throat when he jumped up suddenly, leaving her to crash onto the ground. He stood above her, sword pointed at her chest.
Instead of being frightened, the girl smirked. "You forgot about my voice." she whispered, before releasing a witch-like scream into the night air. Doors burst open and people started pouring out, immediately spotting Selene and Sapnap in the bright moonlight. She grinned upwards at him, contrasting his fiery glower.
"Hey guys, a little help here! Kinda being held captive by a crazy pyromaniac--" she hollered.
Sapnap withdrew his blade, sending her a withering glare and muttering profanities under his breath as he ran back into the darkness of the forest.
Selene climbed down the wall, immediately being greeted by a worried crowd. She flashed them a sadistic smile.
"Don't worry guys, I'm fine"
