Rikkard

I aroused, feeling neutral until I came upon a realization...

It is my twenty-fourth birthday.

My face fell from a default emotionless expression to a depressing scowl thinking about my 'big' day today. Birthdays were the days in which I dreaded the most. But I don't necessarily have a valid explanation as to why, but it has something to do with the amount of attention I get. And how much I was not too fond of too much attention.

Don't get me wrong, you shall know that I don't particularly like lack of attention, but that is only directed to one woman and one woman with my heart.

Though every year, on this very day, the whole town knows about my birthday, and I have people bowing down at my feet while I'm walking in the street. Literally, bowing down at my feet. When I'm clearly attempting to go about my day.

I have obscure, pleasant-looking men and women strolling up to me and delivering me useless items that they considered 'presents.' But I don't want any bloody presents! Lets us not forget the spontaneous children that come up to me and treat me as if I'm their God! With kissing my shoes, cleaning my tailcoat, you name it. I get everything on this day, and I'm indeed not excited about it. I want to work and see my private secretary with no interference at all in any way.

It may be confusing coming from your end, simply because all I am is an emotionless, wealthy, money-starved, arrogant man who does nothing but glare. But ever since I've adapted to being the wealthiest man in London, my attention-seeking desire has done nothing but decrease.

Taking relatively longer than usual to get dressed in my appropriate work attire, I hitched myself up a bit (not like there is much to fix) and steered straight down to my office, greeting Mr. Stone and Karim with a short, curt nod. Of course, I didn't miss the attempt of Mr. Stone wishing me a happy birthday, but before he could finish, I silenced him. I'm not planning on hearing those words today. The two stories that would bore me to death repeatedly.

It was all going adequately until the second Mr. Linton came marching in. Being more flamboyant and cheery as usual. Lord, only God knows how much I hoped she didn't know it was my birthday.

Unfortunately, she was aware.

Lilly

I woke up feeling more excited than usual... why?

Because it was my boss's bloody birthday, that's why!

I should've told Karim that we ought to throw a surprise party, but I didn't. Darn you, Lilly!

I huffed and got up extra early, skipped breakfast because I intended on buying a cake from a bakery for Rikkard, and let us not forget balloons and strings. Then made my way into the backyard to get my Mr. Linton attire on.

With a simple pat on my sister Ella's sleeping head, I moved towards town and the nearest bakery.

Only about five and a half minutes later, I footed heartily into the shop, a sweet aroma of delectable sweets fuming into my nose. I smiled widely.
