After a quick rest and a good top up of food and water, we get up and continue on our way. Normally, I would be so much lazier than this, I mean, who wants to spend all day everyday walking in one direction? Mono apparently. Going through the next room, we pass a stack of TVs, pilled high in the centre and surrounded by drop offs, or holes as normal people would call them. The peak TV had a rope wrapped around it, connecting it to something just out of eye range. Hitting a wall, Six positions herself under a window, Mono running towards her and getting boosted up. I got to follow but he shakes his head.
"If I go with you together we could pull Six up and all of us could get through."
"I want to check ahead first, it might not be that simple, this place is in ruins." He replies, dropping down the other side. Me and Six exchange a look of 'boys' and let out small laughs. It takes about 7 minutes for us to hear Mono's voice, and me and Six had already gotten so much closer. We had entertained ourselves by talking about the past, about our families and those whom we had loved. Six had had a boyfriend at one point, they truly loved each other, until he went missing, kidnapped from his bed. This was interrupted by Mono yelling at us to, and I quote, 'mount the tied TV'. We did as told and were propelled upwards, landing on a ledge a lot higher up than Mono was. Running on through, we met him at a broken stairwell, the gap being familiarly too long for us to jump. I stabilised myself on the edge as Mono jumped gripping my hand and tearing me off the platform, for a brief moment time stopped. Our eyes locked, or at least I think they did, his mask makes it difficult to tell, and we mutually agreed that it was great meeting one another. Thankfully, in that split second of time, Six grasped my other hand, leaning over the edge, flat on her stomach. With a grunt, she helps me up and I, as I was meant to, helped Mono across. "Thanks Six."
"I would never let you fall. Never." She replies, and we all share a quick hug. It's reassuring, knowing we have each other's backs, no matter what. After being alone so long, a simple word from someone else means more than gold. At that moment I black out.
I was somewhere different... the walls seemed to squirm and move around, I could feel eyes on me from everywhere. I was running, Six ahead of me and Mono behind me. I jump. Six catches me. Mono Jumps. He falls.
I gasp, stepping back and almost falling back off the stairway. Mono catches my wrist, pulling me into his side.
"You okay?" I stand there, frozen, what happened? I couldn't function right with this thing on my mind, what did it mean? Why didn't we catch Mono? No. I would have caught him. So would Six. She... she said so... Deciding it best to keep whatever that was to myself, I simply nod. Mono's hand slips from my wrist and across to my lower back, lightly urging me ahead of him. As I pass him, it slips from my back and into my hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze. I squeeze back in thanks before letting go continuing up and across a beam to meet up with Six on the other side.
