Brittany walks into the school with all of her packets and her backpack. She walks straight ahead to her locker and doesn't talk to anyone. She's wearing all baggy clothes to avoid being seen. When she gets to her locker, she puts her other packets in her locker and keeps her history.
'I really don't want to go to class,' she thinks to herself. 'What's the point? Right. It's finals week. Yay! And then two weeks off for Christmas and New Year's. I honestly can't wait!'
"Brittany?" A familiar voice asks. She turns and almost falls over.
"Reggie?" She asks. "Hey. How are you?" 'Not like I care.'
"I'm great. How are you?" 'Yeah, because I care.'
"I'm great too. Love the new look!" 'Not.'
"Thanks. I…. Love yours as well." 'Yeah, major upgrade from this mess of a girl.'
"Thank… you." Reggie closes his locker and walks away. Brittany grabs the duffle bag out of her closet and runs to the closest bathroom. She goes into the big stall and changes out of the baggy clothes. She shoves all of her baggy clothes into the duffle bag after grabbing the makeup bag. She walks out of the stall and does her makeup in front of the mirror. She looks down and sees that she's still wearing her shoes. She takes those off and puts on her two inch wedges. She shoves her makeup and shoes into her duffle bag and walks out of the bathroom. She then walks back to her locker as fast as she could. Brittany shoves the duffle into her locker and grabs her backpack. She looks at her watch and sees that she has a few minutes to spare. She closes her locker and just stands right in front of it.
"Mercer," she hears a familiar voice say. "You look good."
"Thanks Bobby," She replies. "Isn't your first class on the other side of the campus?"
"No. It's always been over here."
"Oh. Okay."
"That and I wanted to see you. So, how's your first day back?" Brittany gives him a look and then smiles.
"Not good. I ran into Reggie. Bad thing is that I was wearing baggy clothes in front of him."
"Well I think you look good no matter what you're in."
"Stop. We agreed that we aren't going to tell anyone just yet."
"I know, but I can't help it when you wear stuff like this. You really do look good Mercer."
"Thanks Wilson. Now, we have to get to class."
"Hold on. I got you something."
"You didn't have to do that!"
"Well it is your birthday after all! I had to get my girlfriend something."
"Shh. Someone can hear you!"
"Sorry." He pulls a box out of his pocket and opens it.
"Oh my gosh Bobby. It's beautiful! Thank you! And uh, did you get something for Alex?'
"You're welcome. And no. Oh well. Want me to put it on you?"
"Duh!" She turns around and moves her hair off her neck. Bobby opens the hook and puts the necklace on Brittany's neck. She turns back to face him and gives him a hug. "Thanks babe. I love it!" They break out of the hug and smile at each other. Just then, the bell rings. They hug one more time and Brittany walks into class. "Ms. Mercer. How was your entire two months away from school?" Her teacher asks her.
"It was good," she replies sitting next to Luke. "Honestly, it was amazing!"
"That's good to know."
Luke taps her on the arm and says, "Happy Birthday."
"Thanks Luke."
"Where'd you get the necklace?"
She sits back up in her seat and pulls out the packet of work. "Um…. Bobby."
"Really? Why did he…. Oh my god!"
"What?"
He leans closer towards her. "Are you two… dating?"
"No. We aren't Luke." He gives her the 'yeah right' face. "Okay, fine. Yes we are, but if you tell anyone, you'll lose a finger. Understand?"
"Yes ma'am. I understand." Luke raises his hand.
"Yes Mr. Patterson?" Mr. Bander asks.
"We have a birthday in this class today!"
"We do?"
"Yep. It's Ms. Brittany Mercer!"
"Happy Birthday Ms. Mercer. Hope you have an amazing birthday."
"Thank you Mr. Bander," she replies. "I definitely will!" He goes back to taking the roll and Brittany shoots Luke a look like she's about to kill him.
"What?"
"You're about to get it! Once school is over!"
"Okay," Mr. Bander exclaims. "I know you guys never got to turn in your posters, so you're going to do that when you turn in your packets."
"Oops," Luke says.
"What did you do?" Brittany asks. "Or what didn't you do?"
"Nothing. I just wanted to see your reaction when I did that. Priceless!"

….

*At Lunch*

Brittany and Bobby walk out of 4th period and straight to their lockers. "I have decided to let everyone know about us," Brittany says quietly when they get to her locker. She grabs her lunch and her leather jacket out of her locker. She puts her backpack in her locker and puts the jacket on.
"That wasn't long for you to make up your mind," Bobby says. "Either way I don't care."
"You definitely won't after this."
"After what?" Brittany grabs his face and smacks it. "Ow. Not what I had coming." They walk to his locker and Brittany leans up against the locker next to his.
"What did you expect, a kiss?"
"Well yeah." He puts his backpack in his locker and closes it.
"Apparently, you were wrong." She puts her hand back on his face and rubs his cheek in the spot she smacked. She pulls him closer to her to where their lips are touching.
"That's much better," Bobby says after they pull out of the kiss. Brittany laughs and hugs him. He picks her up and twirls her around. When he sets her down, he grabs her hand and intertwines his fingers with hers. They walk outside and out to their friends.
"Hi guys," Brittany says to them as her and Bobby sit down. Alex then walks up to the table and sits down next to Brittany.
"Hey sis," Alex says. "Happy Birthday."
"Hey bro," she replies. "Happy Birthday."
"Oh my gosh!" Adam states. "I totally forgot guys! Happy Birthday! Are you having a party?"
"Yeah. It's gonna be a combined one like every year."
"Don't worry Brit," Bobby says. "I'm gonna make it one you'll honestly never forget."
"I'm holding you up on that. If I don't get the most unforgettable birthday, then you owe me…." Brittany smiles when she thinks of the perfect thing. "You have to let me read your most embarrassing song in your journal."
"Who's reading who's song?" Reggie asks as he sits down next to Alex.
"If Brittany doesn't have the most unforgettable birthday," Adam starts. "Then he has to let her read his most embarrassing song."
"Okay," Bobby says. "And if you do have the most unforgettable birthday, you have to let me read your most recent song you've written."
"Deal." Brittany holds out her hand and Bobby shakes it.
"So," Adam says. "When and where is the party?"
"It's tonight at seven thirty. The entertainment starts at eight and it's at my house."
"Entertainment?" Luke asks sitting next to Reggie. "I don't remember you saying anything about there being any entertainment."
"That's because it's our band and it honestly doesn't matter if we mess up. Anyways, what song do you guys want to do?"
"Hey Brit?"
"Yeah Luke?"
"Can we do the duet I wrote?"
"Totally! So everything is put together. Our party is ready!"
"I can't wait for you to see my surprise that I got you Brit," Bobby says. He grabs her hand and their friends' faces drop, except for Luke's.
"What is wrong with your face Luke?" Alex asks.
"Nothing's wrong with it," Luke replies. "Why?"
"Because of Bobby and Brittany!"
"Oh that! Yeah, I already knew!"
"And you didn't bother to tell us?"
"She asked me not to tell anyone."
"Since when do you listen to my sister?" Alex then nods as he just answered his own question. The bell rings and the entire table shoots up to get to class.
