The sun projected big yellow rays of light through Gracie's room, it was about 7:30 AM Saturday morning. Normally she would have to be up for training at 6 o'clock, but since it was the weekend, training wasn't until noon. Gracie rolled over in bed, being careful not to crush Alpine, she stretched her arms out and sat up, Alpine stirred and lightly meowed at her for moving. The smell of waffles floated up the stairs and into Gracie's room, waking her up and lifting her out of bed. She grabbed a cardigan and some slippers and started her descent to the kitchen, Alpine zigzagging between her feet, almost tripping her.

Steve had left for his morning run around the compound at 6:00, when he returned, the house was still, he walked up stairs and peaked into his and Bucky's room, Bucky was spread out across their bed, hair sticking out all over the place, his limbs hanging off the edges of the bed. Steve walked down the hall and peaked his head into Gracie's room, she was curled up Alpine in her arms, surrounded by all the stuffed animals and blankets that she received when she first arrived at the compound. He tip-toed across her room over to her windows, he opened her curtains and on his way out the door he stopped and placed a kiss on her forehead. Steve walked into the kitchen and decided to make breakfast for his family.

Gracie rounded the corner of the stairs and made her way to the kitchen, she walked in to find the breakfast nook table set and piled with food. Steve looked up from his book expecting to see Bucky, but he was shocked to see his daughter, the girl who normally slept until Bucky dragged her out of bed, standing in the doorway.

"Oh, good morning sweet pea!" Steve greeted sipping his coffee, "You're up early?"

"I smelt waffles and I knew if I didn't get up now dad would eat them all"

"I made you some coffee, it's on the counter"

"Thank you," she yawned, "how was your run?"

"It was pretty good, I saw some deer in the forest, and I saw a wild Sam trying to outrun me!" he grinned.

Gracie was about to make a dig at Sam when Bucky stumbled into the kitchen, tripping over Alpine as she laid in the doorway.

"Thanks for finally joining us old man," Gracie poked, "would you like a waffle?"

"Watch it young lady, I'll take you back to Romania and leave you there." he taunted

Steve chuckled, "Good morning Buck"

"Morning Stevie," he sat down and looked at all the food in front of him, "this all for me?"

The three sat and ate their breakfast, making small talk and planning the rest of their days. Bucky and Gracie decided that their training today would consist of teaching her how to use her knives, and learning when to use them. Although neither Bucky nor Steve liked that Gracie engaged in hand to hand combat, they both agreed it was necessary for her to know how to protect herself when it came down to it.

They finished breakfast, Steve started to clean up and Gracie insisted on helping, but he shooed her away. Bucky brought the dishes to Steve and gave him a quick peck on the cheek,

"Thank you for breakfast love!" he hummed

"Hey Buck?"

"Yeah?"

"Thank you."

"For what?"

"Everything. Bringing Gracie into our lives, starting this family with me, keeping her safe when I can't, and for just being you. I love you"

"I love you too Steve, so much."

Gracie came bounding into the kitchen in her training gear, "Ready to get your ass kicked Buckaroo?"

"You see how she talks to me, her elder?" Bucky acted offended

"Have fun training you two" Steve waved them off as they headed out the door.

"Bye dad!"
