3. Glowing Day

Yuzuru. I miss them. I know they don't want to see me but I want to see them. Maybe they'll be by the bridge? I know it's unlikely, but I want to check. Just in case.

I got out of bed and grabbed my manga. Leaving my apartment, I walk down the stairs to the bridge. No one there. Of course. Why did I think they would be here? They don't care about me. The sun is bright, but of course, it feels like it's burning me. It hurts. Why does it hurt? Why do I care if Yuzuru is here or not?

Sitting down against the railings, I took a deep breath, closing my eyes I felt the air fly past my body. It's peaceful, a sad and scary type of peaceful. I felt the bridge shake a bit as I look up. Yuzuru. "Hey."

Their hand against the railing, they looked at me calmly. They're here. "Hi," I stuttered. "What are you doing here?" I asked. I doubt they're here to see me. "I like to take pictures here." I felt as the ground shook beneath me as they walked over to sit next to me. They crossed their legs as they looked at me. "Wanna get something to eat?" They reassured.

Everything around me is glowing. The world seems almost sparkly. All around their face, their sweet smile left my stomach empty. "Sure!" I exclaimed. They stood up and grabbed my arm. "Come on let's go! I'm hungry!" They yelled.

They tugged me from my seating position and guided me happily across the bridge. I hear the water below us as the sun shines above. Today it's kind of bright. "You're so slow, pick up the paste I'm starving!" They yelled. "Okay okay, I'm coming," I shouted.

We walked quickly for a few minutes, but eventually slowed down. Yuzuru's hand still gripping my wrist, it hurt. I don't want them to know though. Through the pain, I felt my cheeks turn a little red as they gave me a warm smile and stopped. They released my wrist and instead grabbed both my hands and looked into my eyes. "Ramen." They exclaimed.

It was quicker than my mind perceived it, but it felt like forever. Their hands brushing against my fingers slowly, I had to bite my lip to hide my emotions. Practically sinking at the sight of them touching me. Ramen? I guess we're probably going to some type of gas station then. Sounds fun.

They let go of my hands and it was over just like that. In a matter of seconds. Now they weren't even holding my wrist. I wish I could go back to 10 seconds ago. Why am I even thinking about them so much?! Well, they are right beside me so that makes sense, but I can't think about anything else.

As we walked across the cracked sidewalk, Yuzuru still looked like so much was on their mind. Like the smiles were fake. I bet I haven't even met the real Yuzuru. I'm probably only acting like this around Yuzuru because I haven't had friends in a while. I'm probably just not used to it, yeah that's gotta be it.

Hearing the sounds of vehicles on the road driving by. The sounds of people walking close. The sounds of the bugs. The bright lights coming from the buildings. Everything started closing in. The more we walked, the more people we started seeing. I can't take it. Everyone is looking at me. Do I look bad? I wore nice clothes today, though. Maybe my fashion choices are weird. Or maybe it's my face, I probably should have worn a mask. What if I'm walking weird, or there is something on me that I'm not aware of?

It hurts. The eyes hitting my body, I can feel them crawling on my back. It's like I can hear what they're thinking. Every eye stabbing me slowly. I can't look back. Lowering my head to the ground a bit, I lose eye contact with everything but the floor. Shaking I start walking a little slower. My knees felt like they were going to snap. Until something touched my hand.

Jumping up from the shock of something rubbing against my fingers, I see Yuzuru smiling at me. Their hand slowly wrapping around mine. Moving my head back down, I move a little closer to Yuzuru as we calmly walk along on the concrete. I could see their mouth a little. It made everything around us disappear. It was just Yuzuru and I, in our own world.

Taking a few more steps, we stop. I look at Yuzuru, they were looking straight ahead. I picked my head up and saw the gas station. Looks like we made it alive. Yuzuru pushed open the door and let me walk through. We skimmed the aisles looking for an item to buy. Yuzuru stopped at a box of chocolates. Jumping around to face me they yelled, "This is for you!"

They started quickly walking to the cash register. I grabbed a random thing on the shelf and tried to match Yuzurus's pace while walking towards them. "Thanks," Yuzuru murmured to the cash register after purchasing the items we wanted.

"Do you like rice balls?" They asked as we walked out of the store. "Yeah, they're okay," I replied. There was an awkward moment of silence. Yuzuru looked at me with a grin ready to say something. "Guess what?" They exclaimed. "What?" I asked. Jumping up they scream "I got you chocolate!" It was a small box of chocolates, really cute actually. "Thanks, also, you told me earlier you were going to buy them for me," I replied bluntly.

Yuzuru laughed. Smiling, they grab my hand and we start sprinting back to the bridge. I looked at my hand as the wind flew by my face. They were holding on so tight to me. Like they would never let go.

Stopping at the bridge, Yuzuru looks at me with their glowing eyes. "Do you, um maybe wanna come over to my place?" They stuttered. Stop. Hold it. We missed a few seasons. Did they just ask me to go to their house!? Do they wanna do the nasty!? I'm too young to die!

"We uh could just hang out and make ramen for dinner or something." They murmured. I stiffened. I scrunched my face, surprised and confused. "Sure," I replied. Yuzurus face started glowing up as they grabbed me and started quickly running up the stairs to their apartment. I haven't really seen them this happy before.

They stopped at their apartment door. Putting in the code, they let me go in first. It's a normal apartment. A beautiful view from the porch, too. "There's no one else here right now, you don't have to be quiet." They said. "My mom will be here a little later though." This situation is kind of awkward, I don't know what we're supposed to be doing.

I can smell Yuzuru. Everything smells like them. My face is a tomato. Why am I blushing so much? I'm so nervous. I feel stiff, what should I be doing? "I'll make some ramen," they stuttered. This is really awkward.
