(𝚜𝚑𝚎𝚜 𝚜𝚙𝚎𝚌𝚒𝚊𝚕)~ 𝚖𝚊𝚣𝚎 𝚛𝚞𝚗𝚗𝚎𝚛

2. 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚋𝚘𝚗𝚏𝚒𝚛𝚎

the bonfire. like every month the boys through a huge bonfire to welcome the new greenies. and like every month I'm the one to set everything up as the boys are completely useless at planning things.

I haven't met the greenie yet, the only time I involve myself is when the council decide what their jobs are going to be. but this time I felt something when the box came up, something weird. like everything was going to change and not for the better.

after getting the bonfire ready for tonight, with Chucks help, I went to the kitchen to see if Fry needed any help.

"hi Fry, need any help?" I jumped over the counter and stood next to him

"hey Cara, could you get me some carrots and potatoes? running low on veggies" he passed me a basket as I made my way towards the crops.

"hey boys, how's the gardening going" I smiled at Zart and Newt not realising the greenie wasn't far from us

"going good Cara, how's the bonfire lookin" Zart threw me some vegetables and laughed

"great, Chucks being the only helpful one as usual" I laughed back and got some carrots before heading back
"don't have too much fun tonight" and with that I walked away not giving them time to answer me.

nightfall was already upon us, signalling the gladers it was time to start the bonfire. Alby and a few other gladers got the fire started, then the music started and everyone was dancing and having a great time.

I was dancing around with Chuck, having the time of my life, when I saw two pairs of eyes looking my way. I turned to see Newt and the greenie looking my way. I gave Newt a smile and continued to dance.

Newt's POV

"who's that?" I wondered how long it would be before the greenie asked about Cara. they always do I mean why wouldn't they she's the only girl in the glade.

"that my friend, is Cara. only girl in the glade, always has been." I laughed when I saw the look in his eyes,an all too familiar look.
"beautiful isn't she" he kept his eyes on her, making me a little uncomfortable.

"yeah, she really is. how come she's the only girl? how long has she been here?" all of his questions had been asked before by nearly every one of the glades.

"she was one of the first ones to arrive. no one knows why she's the only girl or why she was sent up. but she's off limits to everyone." as soon as I said that I could see his heart sink in his chest, making me laugh. we both continued to watch her dance and sing, she even managed to get Minho up to dance.

" alright come on, your supposed to be the guest of honor. " I grabbed him up and began to explain who and what everyone was.

Cara's POV

i noticed Newt and greenbean had gotten up, I just guessed that they had began exploring. before I had a chance to think about anything else, I was grabbed by the waist and lifted into the air. I noticed the familiar grip to be Frypans as he placed me down into the fighting circle.

"come on Cara, you up for a game" I could hear the smug in Gallys voice let alone see it.

"again really? don't you remember what happened last time?" I smirked at him remembering how I beat him last month like every other month.

"what you scared ill be you this time?" he was too confident for his own good

"no just thought I'd save your ego before you get yourself hurt" I stepped towards him, showing I accepted his challenge. I now also saw that Newt and the greenie were watching.

Gally took his shot as soon as I turned my back which I knew he would, I stepped out of the way making him fall forward so I could kick his back, making him go flying onto the floor.

everyone laughed and 'ooo'ed as I just waited for him to stand back up.

Gally swiped me under the feet causing me to land flat on my back. I groaned at the pain but got back up, jumping on his back to pull him down onto the sand. when he was on his stomach I pulled back his arms and placed my foot on his back.

"alright alright you win get off of me" I could hear the pain in his voice and smiled at my victory. all the boys cheered and I went back towards Chuck and Minho to continue dancing.

after a while of laughing with the gladers I started to feel dizzy, thinking it was my body telling me to take my medication I left the bonfire to find it. but after I took my medication, the dizziness started to worsen, my body became sore and my vision started to blur. I tried to scream but nothing came out.

I had realised that I had blacked out, it couldn't have been for long though because the bonfire was still happening. when I looked around, trying to gain back my vision, I saw some glass on the floor. I looked up to see a broken window, but the more I looked around I saw the door hanging off its hinges and some of the wood sticking out of their places.

trying to stand, I grabbed the closest thing to me and when I did it felt like a person, I didn't know who because all that I heard was a loud ringing noise. part of me wanted to stay awake, afraid of what might happen if I blacked out again, but the other part of me just wanted to forget everything and sleep. so that's what I did. I let my body fall, hoping to hit the ground but what I felt was not the hard wood floor, but it was someone's arms.
