Newt's POV

"will she be okay?" Chuck looked at me, his tear stained face making my heart ache.

"she'll be fine, it's Cara we're talking about" I gave him a smile, mostly trying to convince myself she'll be ok.

Cara being out for almost a whole day crushed Chuck more than anything. the two where like mother and son or brother and sister. you would always find them together. Chuck is the reason she's not a runner anymore, he didn't want to risk anything happening to her again, not like last time.

not even a month of being a runner, Cara came face to face with a greiver but managed to get out a second before the doors closed. that's when we all decided she's safer in the glade where we can all protect her.

"what happened to her? why did she black out?" Thomas walked into the medical room. he was the one who found her and basically saved her.

"it's her medication, it's making her worse." Jeff turned to us, showing us her medication, showing us how infected it looked.

"she'll be okay right?" Chuck asked again, just to make sure.

"of course she will, she has to. I hope." Jeff whispered the last part so I could barely hear him.

I left the room to get some air, thinking about going to get some jobs done hopeful that I could detract myself. just as I was about to leave I heard something, making me limp back inside the room.

Cara's POV

I have no idea how long I was out for or even where I was. all I could see was nothing. complete darkness everywhere. every now and then I heard faint voices, not being able to make out what they were saying but I managed to figure out who was talking.

"will she be okay?"

Chuck? his words echoed in my mind, my hands shooting right up to my ears trying to drain out the sounds.

it felt like forever until it sad silent again and then a few more voices all hit me at once. it sounded like Newt and Jeff and another voice I didn't recognise. silence fell over me again, making it feel like a lifetime before I saw some light above me.

"hello? Chuck? Newt? can anyone hear me?"

I tried to reach out to them but nothing worked, the bright light spreading and a loud scream filled my head, making me scream back in pain, my hands over my ears and my eyes squeezed shut. it felt like the air was being sucked out of my lungs and I couldn't breathe. suddenly I felt a large gust of wind hit my skin, and the screams stop, making me open my eyes only to shut them again when the sunlight was too bright.

I adjusted my vision and soon realised I was back in the medical room, the windows broke and the cabinates smashed just like before I blacked out.

"Cara?" I looked to my right and saw Chuck holding his ears as if something exploded.

"Chuck? oh my god Chuck" I pulled him into a hug as it felt like I hadn't seen him in years although I was probably only out for the night.

"how are you feeling?" Jeff put a hand on my shoulder to help me lay back down

"dizzy. tired. how long was I out for?" the raspyness of my voice told me that I was probably dehydrated.

"nearly twenty-four hours. here drink this" he handed me a cup with what looked like water, so I drank the whole thing in three big gulps.

"are you okay?" Chuck kept his hand in mine, refusing to let go

"I'm fine. what happened in here? looks like a bomb went off" I laughed a little

"you happened." Alby made his way into the room, giving me a smile on his way in, hugging me when he got close enough.

"what do you mean I happened? I didn't do this I was out cold. I think." the confusion hurt my brain, there's no way I could have done this I have no reason to. unless it has something to do with why Chuck was holding his ears like I was.

"you don't know?" Newt looked at me, telling me they all knew something I didnt

"know what?" still confused, my gaze shifted towards the greenie who had just walked in.

"your different. your special."
