Callie's POV
"Come on , Cal," My dad calls. I take a deep breath. I don't want to go meet my new family. My dad is getting married. I haven't even met the woman and the wedding is in 10 days. I know that she has two children: a boy the same age as me and a daughter who is older and in college. I don't know any of their names either. What if the boy is mean? A total jerk? He is probably one of those really mean kids that pick on high school geeks. "CALLIE!"
I shake myself of my thoughts and grab my suitcases. I close the door to my Dad's silver Vauxhall Astra VXR. I look at the large three story house in front of me. My new home. It is very big, made of bricks, and there is a black metal fence behind me. The house has large windows on each story. Some trees stand tall on the perfect green, and frehly mowed lawn. Bushes with red flowers surround the windows on the first floor. A large tree stands over me. It reminds me of a tree at my old home. That had good memories. I remember breaking my wrist when I was 12 because I tred to climb it to impress a boy across the street named Nick. My mum worried about me so much as I got my wrist wraped in a cast. I miss her. Dad waves at me to get my attention and I grab my bags and trudge up to the house. My dad shuts the door behind me and I am greeted with a pretty woman in front of me. She looks quite young with dark, long hair. She is pretty with light make-up on. She smiles sweetly at me.
"Hi, you must be Callie. I am Anne. It is so great to meet you. Your father has told me so much about you," The woman says in a thick English accent that matches mine. My mum is from London, England and my dad is from Sydney, Australia.
"All things good, I hope?" I smile.
"Oh yes," She giggles."Harry, my son, will be home in a few hours. He is at the library studying for a test right now."
"Oh," I say. Harry. That is unusual. And he is studying? I mentally scoff. Kids always tell parents they are studying, when, really, they are with some girl snogging eachothers faces off.
"Yeah. He has a study group there. You could join him if you want. Gemma can take you there. She is in the kitchen." Anne tells me.
"Oh, it is alright. I can meet him later." I say.
"Nonsense. Your father tells me you like to read anyways, you can get a book while you are there. Gemma!" Anne calls.
"I really don't want to intrude-" I say.
"You aren't and Gemma will not mind. You two can talk a bit since you will not get to chat. She has to go back to college tomorrow and she'll be back for the wedding and then she will leave again."Anne informs me.
Well, this is just great.

Still Callie's POV
I sit in the passenger side of Gemma's car. Gemma looks a lot like her mother. She has the same dark, straight hair Anne has. She doesn't wear too much make up either.
"So? How old are you?" Gemma asks, starting conversation.
"Uh, I turn 18 in three weeks. On April 23rd." I say.
"Ah, Harry turned 18 in Febuary. Febuary 1st." Gemma tells me. I nod and smile, not sure what to say. "Now, I know you are probably scared to meet Harry, right? I mean I would be too if I was in your position."
"I just don't really know what to expect. I keep imagining a Jerk or a mean popular rich kid." I tell her shyly.
"Then you are going to be surprised," She mutters as she parks the car. "I will come in and introduce you, but then I have to leave. Harry can take you back. I am sorry, but I have to go meet someone, an old friend. Or teacher actually, my old English teacher from 11th grade." Gemma tells me. That scares me a little. I have to ride with Harry when I barely know him. Well, I barely know Gemma and I rode with her.
" Uh, it is alright. I will be fine." I don't know if I am trying to convince Gemma or myself. We jump out of the car and head into the recently expanded Library.
There are tons of books everywhere, but what did I expect? A circus?
"There he is," Gemma points to a small group of 5 boys and two girls. Gemma and I make our way over to the table.
"Hey, Harry," Gemma says. Harry jumps and looks back. Wow. He has the most beautiful features I have ever seen. Dark, curly hair that flops around everywhere, mezmerizing green eyes, creamy skin with a slightly pink tint in his cheeks and a wonderful, toothy smile. Wow.
"Hey, sis, what are you doing here?" Harry stands and hugs his sister.
"Well, mum told me to bring someone here to meet you," Gemma says, gesturing to me. Harry looks at me and our eyes lock. He is so amazing and I haven't even spoke to him.
"Hi, " I squeak.
"Hello, " He says in a husky, low voice. "who...?" He trails off and looks at his sister.
"This is Callie. Callie Shaw. Our soon-to-be step-sister," Gemma explains.
" Oh, right. Hi, it is nice to meet you, Callie." Harry reaches his hand forward. I grip it and shake it firmly, something my dad taught me so I act tough.
"You too, Harry" I say, loving the sound of his name rolling off of my tongue. Wait, what? No! He will be my brother in 10 short days! Not related by blood but still. I cannot, under any circumstances whatsoever, be attracted to him!
I pull my hand back and twiddle with a lock of my brown hair, not flirtatious, just a nervous habbit.
"Well," Gemma says, breaking the awkward silence. "I need to go see Mr.Gordon. You can bring Callie home, right?" Gemma asks. Harry looks at his sister and I expect him to be mean and reject it. But he surprises me.
"Yeah, I will get her home." Harry says.
"Great." Gemma kisses her brother's cheek and waves goodbye to me before walking out the door. Harry pulls a chair up to the table and I sit down beside him.
I fidget with the hem of my t-shirt and try not to stare at him the WHOLE time.
