Out of context, I love this Oihina fanart, I may change this to the cover tbh
~Hinata's pov~
I had gotten out of the shower a few minutes ago and I walked out into the hallway and saw Tooru sitting at the top of the stairwell. I'm not really mad at the fact that he's eavesdropping at my parents fighting. I was more mad at the fact that he didn't find it out from me.
I tapped his shoulder, and his eyes met mine. He began to apologize but I cut him off telling him that we should take a walk before supper. He nodded at me and we both walked back to my bedroom. I put some sweatpants on and longsleeve shirt on.
My dad wasn't back yet from the store and my mom was in her office working on who knows what. I led Tooru down the stairs. I wrote a quick note for my mom to let her know that Tooru and I were going for a walk.
We held hands as we walked to a small park that looked deserted since it was kind of late. We sat down on a bench and I leaned my head onto his shoulder as I looked at the sunset. I felt Tooru's uneasiness as I wasn't saying anything. "I'm not mad Tooru, if that's what you are worried about." "I'm just mad that it wasn't me that got to tell you." "Any sane person would've been the tiniest bit curious."
I shifted my gaze from the sunset to Tooru's beutifull brown eyes. The way that they shined in the fading sun's rays was mesmerising to me. But, I'm just avoiding the conversation I've been dreading for the past few hours. I know he's curious, but I can't seem to get the words to form.
I took a shakey breath, 'Well here goes nothing' I thought to myself.
"Tooru, my parents aren't their destined soulmates, they thought they could overcome the system." "Which it seemed liked they did for a while, but as time went on they could feel the pull of their destined soulmates, although I'm pretty sure my mom's soulmate died." "My dad was luck enough to be able to reunite with his, that's who my dad was with after the practice match today."
"My parent's divorce court day/custody day is on this Saturday." "My dad said he will probably gain custody of me since I have a choice too, but also he has his destined soulmate alive." "I feel like my mom isn't even going to fight for my custody, I just hope it won't be the stupid co-parent option."
As I kept rambling out about everything that was going on, Tooru's eyes never left me. He listned intently and never interrupted me once. I broke down a few times while explaining the whole thing, he would just hug me and wait patiently when I would eventually calm down and be able to talk again.
I finally finished after about half an hour and just embraced him. He gave me a small squeeze back and began talking.
"Shoyo, you are so strong, so so so strong, I'm happy you shared that with me." "Not everyone has the guts to be able to say that out loud, but you did." "That just proves how much you actually trust me, and I really appreciate that Shoyo."
I let him go and saw that he had tears in his eyes. "This will work, we will work out." "I know this is early since we literally just met today, but."
"I think I may be starting to fall for you."
I hugged him again and whispered "Me too"
After holding onto each other for a little while, we decided it was getting kind of late and we wanted to be back before supper started. I held his hand again as we made the short walk back, we walked in silence. Not needing to say a word, just our presence with each other was enough.
We made it back to my house not too long after. I saw my dad's car in the driveway so I knew he made it back from the store. We made our way inside and put our slippers on and made our way to the kitchen. My mom and dad weren't fighting for once, but they still seemed to be shooting eye daggers at each other.
I all of a sudden got nervous, just realizing that Tooru was going to officially meet my parents as my soulmate. I think he could feel my uneasiness so he wrapped his arms around me in an attempt to calm me down.
~Oikawa's pov~
I felt Shoyo get nervous as we walked into the kitchen, so I gave him a small hug and whispered in his ear. "It's alright Shoyo, everything will be just fine"
That seemed to calm him down, I had almost forgotten that his parents were in the room when I heard his mom clear her throat.
"Who the hell are you and why are you hugging my son?"
His dad rolled his eyes "Our son."
"Well, my name is Tooru Oikawa and I actually just met your son today, it just so happens that Shoyo and I are soulmates!" I may have sounded confident but on the inside I was freaking out. His mom's eyes widened, "Is this true Shoyo?" "Your soulmate is a guy?"
Shoyo's head snapped up to look her in the eyes, "Why does that matter mom?" "That's what your worrying about right now?" "Here I thought that you loved me for who I was, but from what I'm hearing you don't want me anymore, just because of the gender of my soulmate?"
"Shoyo, that's not what I-"
"No, I don't want to hear it, c'mon Tooru I'd rather eat somewhere else rather than here."
He basically dragged me out of the room and back outside after we put our shoes on. Not too long we heard his dad come outside too. He started his car and yelled for us to get in. "Well I'm not going to let you wander the streets at night alone, what kind of dad would I be!?"
