*Todd's POV*
I've always wanted to try on makeup. When I was a kid I'd see mom smearing on a fresh new layer of lipstick and I always wanted to see how I'd look with it on. Of course I was never allowed to since I'm a boy. I never understood why boys can't wear it. It makes no sense to me. It's just like body paint. What's so wrong about that? But anyway, I had given up on my hopes of wearing makeup years ago. I never had the courage to steal some of mom's and I wouldn't dare go out and buy some. But recently I've become less scared to do things. Ever since I started dating Neil I've become more confident to do what I want.

So with all my newfound confidence, I strode into my parent's room during winter break. They had gone to some stupid dinner with Charlie's family and they wouldn't be back for hours so that gave me plenty of time to look through her makeup bag. I took out a bright red lipstick that hadn't even been opened. A lot of her makeup hadn't even been opened. She probably bought them to show off and didn't even care about wearing them. My parents always try to show off and it's so stupid. They waste money on things they don't want or need. I stared at the lipstick in my hand and felt a pang of sadness. They spend all their time showing off and picking out expensive things to buy and yet they couldn't even give me a good birthday present? They suck. I took a handful of makeup and put the bag back in its original spot.

I went back to my room and locked the door. My brother is home from college and he should be coming home soon. He went on a date with his girlfriend. She's nice. I think her name is Alice. I wish I could go out with my boyfriend like normal people can. But not being able to tell people about us is all worth it if I get to be with him. Well, technically we have told one person. We told Charlie as soon as we started dating. Apparently he already knew that Neil had a crush on me so we had to tell him.

I went to go get a mirror from the bathroom when I heard some commotion coming from downstairs in the entryway. I went downstairs to take a look and my parents and Charlie's family came bustling into the house. Charlie was not too far behind them and he gave me a wave.

"What are you guys doing back so early? And why are the Dalton's here?"

My mother shot me a quick warning look and said, "be respectful, Todd. They decided to come have some drinks with us and wanted to see your brother. Where is Jeffrey?"

"He hasn't come back yet."

"We'll wait for him in the living room then," Charlie's mom said. "Charles, go with Todd."

He gave a curt nod to his mom and followed me up the stairs. When he stepped into my room he saw the pile of makeup on my bed. Before he had a chance to say anything I quickly shut the door.

"Is that makeup?"

"Um y-yeah it is."

"Cool! Can I try some on?"

That was not the reaction I was expecting. "Sure. I haven't tried any yet but it looked fun."

"I've been dying to do this for years! I want to make my eyelashes cooler!"

"Before we start I'm gonna get a bowl of water and a washcloth from the bathroom just in case we have to wash it off quickly."

"Ok you do that. I'm gonna start with this stuff," he said while holding up a try of eyeshadow. "Do you think I'll look better in pink or blue?"

I giggled and replied, "definitely pink."

When I was walking out of my room I heard the front door close and assumed my brother must be home. I got the water and a cloth and went back into my room to see Charlie had already covered one eye in bright pink eyeshadow.
