Cassie's POV

All the first years were sorted in their houses. That's when Hermione Granger and Harry Potter walked in. They got weird looks from people around.

I was sitting at the Hufflepuff table next to Olivia, across from us sat Daniel, Cedric and in between them Hazel. Daniel and Cedric are in a year higher than Olivia, Hazel and me. We became friends through quidditch.

Cedric is our captain and seeker and Daniel is our keeper. Us three girls are the chasers of the team. The beaters are Alisha and Morgan, they are nice but not the type of people I would hang out with. They once said 'I was being a crazy bitch' because I thought differently than they did. Nonetheless I don't pay much attention to those two girls.

The whole school was being on edge after what happened in the train. Obviously we cheered for the new students but it felt weird. The atmosphere was not like it should be.

Professor Dumbledor stood up to give his yearly speech. He was tall, thin, and very old, judging by the silver of his hair and beard, which were both long enough to tuck into his belt. His purple robes flows in the air as he walks to his platform.

"Welcome!" Dumbledore shouted to get everyone's attention. "Welcome to another year at Hogwarts!! I have a few thing to say to you all, and as one of them is very serious, I think it's best it out of the way before you become befuddled by our excellent feast..."

Dumbledore cleared his throat and continued "As you will all be aware after search of the Hogwarts express, our school is presently host to some of the Dementors of Azkaban, who are here on ministry of magic business."

"They are stationed at every entrance to the grounds, and while they are with us, I must make it plain that nobody is to leave school without permission. Dementors are not fooled by trick or disguises- or even invisibility cloaks," He added looking toward Harry, "It is not in the nature of a Dementor to understand pleading or excuses. I, therefor, warn each and everyone of you to give them no reason to harm you."

Dumbledore paused, he looked very serious around in the hall and nobody dared to make a sound or move.

"It's not in the nature of a Dementor to be forgiving. But you know, Happiness can be found... even in the darkest of times... if only one remembers to turn on the light."

"On the happier not," He continued much more cheerful, "I am pleased to welcome two new teachers to our ranks this year."

"First, Professor Lupin, who has kindly consented to fill the post of  Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher."

There was some unenthusiastic applause for our new professor. Can't blame them for not being all to excited. I mean last year our teacher was a fraud and the before that we had someone who worked for Voldemort himself.

I looked at the other professors who applauded politely for our new professor. Except one professor Snape.

"Guys, look at Snape's face." I whisper to my friends. Who chuckle in response.

Snape always yearned to be our DADA teacher. He still is our potion teacher. Sadly. I don't know much about that man but he is a total stuck up. And his hair is grossly greasy. I think he just never showers. I also know that he doesn't like me. I mean I have turned him into a pink princess. Even before that he always picked me out in class. Not that anything happened cause I always knew the right answers.

"As to our second new appointment," Dumbledore continued as the lukewarm applause for professor Lupin died away. "Well, I am sorry to tell you that Professor Kettleburn, our Care Of Magical Creatures teacher, retired at the end of last year in order to enjoy more time with his remaining limbs."

"However, I am delighted to say that his place will be filled by none other than Rubeus Hagrid, who has agreed to take on his teaching job in addition to his game-keeping duties."

There was another round of applause as the large man stood up. I know Hagrid pretty good. I always go to him in the weekend to look at the creatures he has and help him to take care of them. That sorts that care of magical creatures is my favorite class. I am happy he has taken the job for teaching us. Professor Kettleburn was getting way too old to teach us and it wasn't really fun with him. I know I am going to love the classes now even more because of Hagrid.

"Well, I think that's everything of importance," Dumbledore said. "Let the feast begin!"

The golden plates infront of us filled them selves up with a kind of goods. It is always a delight to eat here. The food they make is just so good.

"So fifth year huh? Are you guys ready for your owls or making decisions for your future?" Daniel says in joking way.

"If you could just shut up. We have a year before the actual owls." Hazel says

"That's true. Do you have any idea what you want to do after school." Cedric says

"I want to join a quidditch team. Don't know which one tho and I also don't know if I am good enough." Hazel says

Hazel is one of the best chasers in our year. She was always the best when it comes to sports. I think the scouts would be foolish for not giving her a spot on the team. But who am I?

"I think you are good enough. Have you seen yourself?" I say

"No I haven't is quite hard to watch yourself play." Hazel laughs.

"I want to go to nursery school. I even got the job to help madam Pomfrey this year. I am so pumped." Olivia tells us enthusiastic.

"Omg seriously!" I exclaimed excitedly for her. She had been talking about it last year none stop. She is a good caretaker she always is.

She nodded back grinning wide.

"What about you, Cas, any plans?" Daniel says interrupting Liv and mine conversation.

"Nah, not really. But something I am sure of is that I am not going to work at the ministry." I say.

Actual this was a lie I know what I want to do. I want to be a artist. Dancer, actor or even a painter. But I also know that this choice of path is not really accepted in the wizarding world. They find it a muggle job and many wizard despise muggles. Especially the purebloods.

"I can't see you sitting behind a desk at the ministry no." Cedric says chuckling. He stands up for the bench. "Got to lead the first years to the common room, see you guys tomorrow at breakfast right?"

"Yeah, see ya Ced." I say.

"Go mother duck before your chicks are gone." Daniel jokes.

We break down in laughter while Cedric  turns away from us and flips us off over his shoulder.

"Watch it prefect boy! You don't want your chicks to do that." I laugh scream at him.
