"I miss you." I tell her over the phone.
"I miss you too. Just one more week and I'm all yours right ."
One week is way too long.
"Mama!" Keayton hollers over the phone.
"Hey, buddy. You being good for your mommy ?"
"Yeah but I miss you." He's 2 years old now. And it breaks my heart that I can't see him all the time. I try to Skype with both of them every night, but it's not enough.
This is driving me nuts. 2 years of hiding. Nobody knows of my secret family. However, I'm hoping soon, I can lay it all on the line.
"I love you both, and I'll see you soon." I tell them
"love you too, Mama."
"I Love you too bud."
We hang up and I stare at my phone. I miss them. It's been 2 years since I've last seen them. Soon,I will no longer have to be without them.
"Dinah ." My mother calls out to me. I turn around and look at her. "Dinner's ready..." She tells me with a smile. "Everything ok with work?"
"Yeah, everything is fine." I smile back.
"Good. Derek is joining us tonight. Poor guy, still can't find his daughter."
I have to roll my eyes. Derek Hamilton. The maker of all my problems. Yeah, misses his daughter, my ass.
"Wonderful." I say under my breath.
Derek stands up and greets me.
"How you doing DJ?" He puts out his hand for me to shake.
I'm polite and I shake his hand back. "I'm good."
As I sit down at the table, I think back to how I even got into this mess in the first place. How the man sitting in front of me is the picture of pure evil. How he almost cost me my family. _____________________________ couple hours later
