Pulled A Shore(ON HOLD)

Chapter 2

"Could you two show me around?" I ask the two dolphins.

"Sure. We could do that." One of them said. They both turned around and start swimming towards a reef. I come around the corner and see fish if all colors and species.

To my left I see a sheet of glass that cuts through the pink and orange coral. I swim over to it and look through the glass. I see a lot of humans with open mouths as they stare at me. I slap the glass, startling them all, and swimming away. Fish stare at me as if they have never seen a mermaid before.

I swim around until I find a cave in the coral big enough for me to fit in. I carefully swim inside and look around. The cave is dark and has a weird color that definitely doesnt look like coral but I still lay down on it. I slowly close my eyes about to fall asleep but cave illuminates with light.

I open my eyes and let them adjust before looking around. The cave is lit up by round objects and the wall behind me becomes transparent. I sit up and look to see Kory and many others with bright flashing lights.

"And here is my newest display, the first of her kind above the ocean. May, the mermaid." Kory says and people with little books starts shouting questions.

"Where did you find her?"

"Are there more out there?"

"Can we interview her and get a statement." I hear people ask.

Kory holds up his hands, silencing them. "I will not reveil where I got her and I'm sure if she is here now, there are surely more. As for the last question I heard, I don't know if she speaks English." More question are shouted and answered by Kory until the last question is shouted.

"How did you know her name was May?" I look to a woman who said my name.

"One of my staff claimed that she spelled her name out with seaweed." Kory answers blankly.

I snort in his direction and start blowing small bubbles. I stick the bubble to the glass and spell something backwards to them. They all look to me in shock and people holding boxes with flashing lights. Kory looks at me in shock. I just smile and go out to find a sponge big enough for my head. When I return, cave is dark and I lay down to eventually fall asleep.

A loud sound wakes me up and I see all kinds of sea life swim for the surface. I exit the cave and swim to the surface as well to see what is going on. The fish of all around stop at the surface and eat things that are floating there. The dolphins from yesterday come over to me and start swimming towards the place from me yesterday.

I follow them and see humanly things in the water. My head goes over the surface and its the human from yesterday named Jessica. She holds a basket of some sort and throws limp fish into the water at the two.

"Hey there, May. Um...I didn't know what to get you for food. So I just got you something from our kitchen." She says while placing something next to the pool. I swim over to it and pick up the plate of something.

"What is it?" I say while poking at the 'food.'

"It's chicken and noodles soup." She says while sitting next to me. I pick up a piece and put it in my mouth. I start chewing but spit it back out and shake my head.

"I think I'm sticking with my food." I say while setting the plate on the land. I dive under the water and search for something. I pick many plants from the area and some rusting objects that are next to ruined building. I bring them all back to my cave and put the plants and objects in two separate piles. Mmm...I don't have a sharp object to cut my vegitation. Some fish swim by and take a look at me before swimming away.

"Excuse me? Can anyone help me?" I ask as I swim out of my cave. The fish look at me oddly but do not answer my question. "Can any of you tell me where a sharp thing is?" They shakes their heads and swim away. "Fine. I'll find one myself." I swim around the bottom of the area until I find a broken shell that has a point to it. "Perfect."

I swim back to my cave and start cutting the plants. The glass becomes light and I see a family of humans walk to the glass and watch me. I smile and continue before dumping it all in a bowl I found. I use my hands to mix them all together. I forgot to get a jellyfish. I hold up a finger for the humans to wait for a second and I swim out and search for a jellyfish.

I found one really quick and I bring it back to the cave. I carefully cut off one of its electric strings and let it back outside. I grabs bundles of the plants and tie them in the string before eating it. The humans cringe in disgust and walk away. They don't know what they are missing.

After I finish my food, I decide to go for a swim. If I am to stay here for a while, I might as well familiarize myself with the place. I follow the coral around the humanly walls till I find myself at a large sheet of glass. I look out it and see the current slap against the top of the glass as wild sea animals swim in the distance. I sigh and sink to the soft sand with on of my hands against the glass.

The sound of excitement comes from the surface. As quickly as I can, I swam to the pool and catch Jessica running around and getting things put away.

"What's going on? All of you humans are freaking out." I ask. She stops and looks at me.

"Kory told us to get prepared for a new exhibit here. You are not the only one of you kind going to be living here."

"They caught another mermaid?" I can't believe it. It better not be Pearl.
