I wait in the pool as Jessica runs? Yeah runs about organizing and cleaning things up. I wonder if she had to do this much work when I was arriving. The sounds of wheels come to my attention as a group of men push a large object.
Jessica stops what she is doing and helps the men being over the object. I back away from the ground and watch as they pull a blanket of of it. A girl with dark hair covers her eyes from the light. Her purple tail shimmers in the light as they tip the tank into the pool. She holds her tail and grimaces in pain. I swim over to her and look over her tail. The bottom scales have been torn off and it bleeds slightly.
"Let me help you." I say while looking at her. She nods her head and I dive under the water until is see some paper like seaweed. I grab a handful before swimming back up to her. Her tail twitches slightly as I carefully wrap the plant around the bottom of her tail.
"Thank you." She says with a slight accent that I don't reconize.
"Sure thing. Let's get you somewhere safe." I say and she wraps her arms around my shoulder as I lead her into the water. Her tail waves ever so slightly as she tries to keep up with me.
"What is your name?" She asks. Her voice is shaky and her eyes look over the reef. "My name Kennedy from the Mediterranean Sea."
"My name is May and I'm from the West side of the Atlantic Ocean." I say while all kinds of fish give us looks. Stupid fish. We arrive at the cave, I lay Kennedy down on my spongey pillow and go outside to get more wraps. When I come back, the glass is lit up again and the room outside it is full of those flashy lights again.
"Here you have it, people. Our second mermaid." Kory's voice sounds and the room fills with shouting. Kennedy winces as I remove the other wraps. Yikes. Her scales are covered in blood and the wound cuts right through the muscles. "I have not found out the name of this one but maybe we should ask May for us. May?"
My attention goes to the glass as my name is called. I scowl at them and quickly spell out Kennedy on the glass before returning to her tail. I gently as I can wrap her tail back up with clean seaweed.
"C-can they hear us?" Kennedy asks while looking at the still shouting people.
I shake my head. "Nope. I honestly don't think they know we can talk. You should probably rest for a while. Your tail is really bad. Could you tell me how you got this?" Kennedy nods her head.
"I was just trying to help some leatherback turtles get one of their own stuck in some human trash when something loops around my tail. I tried to get it off but it got tighter and pulled me to the shore. I struggled a lot to get it off but it was pulling my scales off and I kind of ended us here." I nod my head in understanding.
"Okay. Just rest here and I'll go get something to eat. Okay?" I say while tying the last wrap. She nods her head thankfully and I swim out of the cave. I go and gather the same plants from this morning and another sponge before I return back to see her in a deep sleep.
Aww...I'll just fix this for her in the morning. I place the stuff in an empty corner and fluff my sponge before laying my head on it. And...lights out.

My tail twitches as something runs over it. I groan in aggravation as it runs over some of my sensitive scales. I turn over hoping that it will go away, but with no avail. I eventually open my eyes at look at the marine life that will get a beating to see my new cave mate, Kennedy.
"Good morning!" She says while hiding something behind her back. I swim around her and pull the object from her hands. I look at the orange seaflower.
"A seaflower? Really?" I say while gently putting it in her hair. "There is where it should go and not to be rubbed over my ticklish scales."
Kennedy looks at me innocently. "I didn't do it. It was him!" She says as she points to a passing fish.
The fish looks at me with a suprised look before shaking his body no. "Mmm hmm. Sure he did. How is your tail?"
She shrugs and looks at the new bandages. "It hurts but I checked it when I woke up and its healing slowly." I nod and set my spongy pillow aside. "So what have you been doing around here?"
"I have just swam around a little bit. I've only been here for maybe one to two sun rises. All I know is that we are ment to be an attraction for the humans."
"Oh..." Kennedy says while looking at the dark glass. I was about to say something, but the room lights up and a group of humans come in. I feel a strange pull when a boy about my age comes into my view. I swim over to the glass and put my hand on the glass.
The boy walks over to the glass and looks at me. I jump when his eyes turn the color of a clown fish. He looks away and looks to the older version of the boy.
Kory claps his hand on the boy's shoulder. "Isn't she pretty. I was lucky to get her here as well as her friend in the back there." Kory points to Kennedy as she drags her tail to me.
"What's wrong with the other one?" The older man asks while looking at Kennedy's wrapped up tail.
"Oh...when the fishermen caught her, their net roped its way around her tail and she struggled. When she did, the net started cutting the end of her tail off, but it looks like May has got some wraps on it."
"May?" The boy asks.
Kory then points to me. "Yeah...that's this ones name. The other is named Kennedy. So, you were looking to buy them? How much are you willing to pay for them?"
"What is your price, Mr. Jacobs? I will pay for it." The older man says while standing in front of Kory.
Kory smiles and leads them into another room. The boy stays behind and looks at us. "Why is he looking at us?" Kennedy asks while playing with the sand.
"I don't know...but I feel like something is pulling me towards him." I say while looking back at the boy.
Kennedy's attention is now on me. "What is the pull like?"
I think for a moment before responding. "I don't know...its like I want to be near him all the time." Kennedy squeals in delight and hugs me tightly. The boy starts laughing as if he heard our conversation. How could he hear us?
