"All I can say is that, we can't just move without getting much information," says Hyunjae. "We need to seek more information about that governor before they could take action with their plan."
"That's why Kevin will be staying with the twins for weeks," Changmin spoke.
"They haven't suspected Kevin yet?" Yeosang asked from the corner of the room. "Nevermind because they don't even know that Kevin is a bad guy."
"We'd definitely fuck up if ever Kevin gets caught," said Changmin.
"Dude, we already did," Yeosang sighs. "You already kidnapped Sunhee─and if Eric Sohn spills shit about you, I don't know anymore." The young man could only shrug his shoulders, not wanting to finish whatever he started to say.
Song Mingi, who stood beside Hyunjae, blew a playful whistle as he glanced on Changmin across him. "Crazy how obsession can drive a person to being reckless," he said in a low voice.
"I am not obsessed," Changmin growls, emphasizing every word that came out of his mouth with a sharp glare piercing on Mingi's orbs.
Mingi was ready to fight back, but Hyunjae pinched him on his side as a sign to shut his mouth before Changmin could charge towards the poor boy out of rage.
"I need to unwind," Changmin announced, only earning nods from the other guys. "I'll be back here tomorrow evening with an information if I'll be able to get some."
Mingi and Yeosang immediately left after bidding their goodbye to Changmin. Hyunjae then approached the younger with light steps as he stood beside him. "So, do you have some plan in mind?" he asks the latter.
"I just wanted to kill that thief governor," Changmin breathed out. "And the ones helping him on his stuff." He finishes.
Hyunjae nodded his head before asking. "I just wanted to ask you this. What if the governor's grandchildren were helping him on this?"
Changmin had a blank look painted on his face. He is thinking the same thing for quite some time. What would he do?
"I'll kill both Kim Sunwoo and Kim Sunhee."
Just by the way Changmin responded, Hyunjae knew that he was serious. Exception never existed on Changmin's vocabulary when it comes to his needs and wants.
"As expected from you," Hyunjae spoke with a shrug. "We can definitely finish our most challenging task if everyone would cooperate and do well."
"Betrayal is our biggest enemy here."
Hyunjae almost let out a chuckle from what Changmin have said. He knew that his own secret would not last long if Changmin trusts his own guts. Hyunjae, having his own secret contact with Haknyeon and Younghoon, is all that he got for the sake of everyone's safety against Changmin.
"Indeed," Hyunjae agrees. "Betrayal is indeed a massive destroyer, especially on our trust with each other."
Letting out a smile, Changmin gave a light tap on Hyunjae's chest. "But, all of you have my trust. We can definitely get through this, yeah?"
"Mhmm," Hyunjae hums. "Piece of cake."
Changmin then nodded his head, mouthing out a goodbye to Hyunjae as he left. His footsteps were slowly getting softer on Hyunjae's ears as he exits the building.
Just then, Hyunjae took a grip of hus phone and called Haknyeon. "Hey, am I disturbing you? Sorry for the sudden call," he tells Haknyeon.
"No, not at all," Haknyeon reassures the latter. "You got something to tell?"
"Actually, I wanted to ask you something," says Hyunjae. "About the twins, do they know what their grandfather is up to?"
"They don't know any single thing about what their grandfather is doing," said Haknyeon. "And I am deeply concerned on their safety. I trust you on this, Hyunjae. Don't let your other men hurt my friends."
Hyunjae lets out a heavy sigh as he looked outside the window of the room. "I would never let any of them hurt you and your friends, and that depends on my watch. I could not control what the other guys are thinking or planning to do, but I can assure you that none of my men can hurt any of you on my watch."
There was a moment of silence on the other line, making Hyunjae's heart to pound hard against his chest. He wanted Haknyeon to trust him on this because that's the only thing that he could promise at the moment.
"I trust you, Lee Jaehyun. Please don't ruin it, or else, I'll tell the police about everything that y'all are hiding."
"You have my word, Haknyeon," Hyunjae reassures the latter. "Also, Kevin is one of us. Have a good night."
"Kevin is what? Hey─"
Hyunjae immediately ended the call with a small smile on his lips. His phone went ringing when Haknyeon called, but he ignored it, letting his ringtone to blare inside the room.
"What have I done?" he chuckled lightly. "Changmin already fucked up, and I might be next to that."
