I could feel 8 pairs of eyes on me as I made my declaration. The intensity of all those gazes caused me to feel small as I glanced down at the floor, fiddling with my hands once again.
"Are you absolutely sure Shay?" Remus asks after a few seconds of pure silence.
"Positive Moony," I assured him. This wasn't something that I'd make known if I wasn't completely sure of my findings. "You'll know it's Peter as soon as you see the rat. It's even missing a toe,"
"All they could find of Peter was his finger," he added placing a hand on his chin. "I'd like to see this rat please," looking over at the Weasley's who were still watching the scene unfold.
Ron was hesitant as he brought Scabbers over to Remus. The rat had been given to him by Percy. Apparently he'd been in the family for years which also was an indicator that Scabbers wasn't just an ordinary rat.
Remus took the rat from Ron, bringing it up to his face to get a better look. It didn't take long for the look of recognition to appear on my uncle's face. There was no mistaking it.
"I can't believe it. Shay you always were a brilliant girl. Have your Mum to thank for that," Remus says giving Scabbers back to Ron who looked weary of holding him. Now that he knew it was a grown man in hiding.
"This is all the proof we need to clear Sirius's name," I state clapping my hands together. I just hoped everything fell through, I'd be heartbroken if all my efforts were for nothing.
"Well I'm off to work so I'll hopefully get a hearing scheduled for you," Arthur says with a smile before departing. I couldn't thank him enough for his help with everything.
Once he left it was decided that we'd have to keep Peter somewhere until there was a hearing. Since he knew that he was discovered, we didn't want him to escape. Remus said that he'd figure something out. Ron gladly gave Scabbers back to him before he left.
Molly invited him to stay for breakfast, but he politely declined before saying goodbye to me. With promises to see me again before I was off to Hogwarts. With all that out of the way, I made my way outside where I proceeded to lie in the grass.
Gazing up at the sky, my mind began turning the clouds into various shapes. There was a pony, a hippogriff, a leprechaun and a bowtruckle. At least that's what I saw.
My focus was short lived when I felt someone lay next to me. Looking over, my eyes took in the sight of Fred who was already looking at me.
"What are you doing?" He asks with curiousity. It was different seeing him away from George, they always went and did everything together.
"Finding shapes within the clouds," I replied, eyes returning to the sky.
We spent the next 20 minutes or so picking out the shapes. His being more crazier than the next, things like a huge dragon playing with a dinosaur or Merlin chilling on a beach with Godrick Gryffindor. I knew he was just making ridiculous findings to make me laugh but I didn't mind it.
We were interrupted when Molly called us inside, she was talking us all to Diagon Alley to get our supplies. The smile never left my face as we gathered in front of the fire place. I had vague memories of going to Diagon Alley, riding on-top of my Dad shoulders while Mum walked arm and arm with him. That was before Harry was born and we had to go into hiding.
Percy went first, then the twins before it was my turn. I haven't used the flu network before but it seemed easy enough. Throwing the powder down, I called out Diagon Alley loud and clear.
I was engulfed in green flames as I swirled through the different grates. All the fireplaces rushing by was so overwhelming that I closed my eyes so I didn't feel sick. Last thing I needed was to puke when I stopped on the other side. Everything was a blur except for when I stopped at my destination, seeing the bright red hair of Percy and the twins waiting for everyone.
Fred and George caught me as I stumbled out of the grate. I wasn't that sturdy on my feet. As we waited for everyone else to come through, I brushed the soot off my clothes. My excitement for seeing Diagon Alley bubbling more by the seconds. I couldn't wait to get my wand.......
