Fred's p.o.v

Heat was floating around the room from the fire that was burning in the grate beside me. My twin brother George and I were playing an intense game of wizards chess. It was just like muggle chess but more brutal.

The rest of our family was sitting around us just enjoying each other's company as we began the first few weeks of summer having only gotten home from Hogwarts a week ago. Our older brothers Bill and Charlie were also visiting for a few weeks.

Bill works at Gringotts bank. He is a curse breaker and works in Egypt. My other brother Charlie works with dragons in Romania. It seems like a wicked job, if you ask me well minus the burns and scratches he gets.

Then there is my brother Percy, he's a bit of a git if you ask me. Always wants to do everything right and everything he does has to be perfect. No wonder Mum and Dad praise him. In their eyes Percy is perfect and Mum always wants George and I to be like him.

Which is never going to happen.

Our younger brother Ron is almost starting school, in fact he will be joining us in September when we go back for our 3rd year. Ickle Ronniekins is such an innocent boy with big doe like eyes. He's sort of scared to attend Hogwarts. Then again George and I are always telling him crazy stories to scare him.

After Ron is sweet little Ginny. She's a strong young lady, Mum praises her as she's the youngest of our family and the only girl besides her.

Anyway I was brought out of my thoughts by my brother who was calling out demands to his chess pieces.

"Pawn to B7," he says watching his pawn move to the place to was commanded to. However this was a bad move as it left his king open and I already checked him.

"Not a wise move Georgie," I say commanding my queen to move in front of his king.

"Checkmate," I yelled as the king dropped his sword in front of my queen.

Standing up, I did a little victory dance not caring if I was in the middle of the livingroom. My brother Charlie seems to find it amusing giving me a funny look before he burst out laughing.

"Everytime you beat George at something you always do that dance," he says shaking his head slightly.

"Just feels good," I say doing it again only to have George join in with me.

Together we made our whole family laugh as we danced around the furniture. Weaving in and out like we were experts at this weird dance that I made up at some point in my youth.

It was good to share moments like this with our family. Coming from a big family can be hard at times but it's always good to have so many people to share memories with.

After a few minutes of random dancing we were all brought out of our silly antics by a frantic knock on the front door.

"I'll get it," I state as I was closest to the kitchen. I walked through the doorway and past the table to our front door.

Without a second thought I pulled the door open and was shocked to see the person on the other side.

It was a girl about my age. She was average height with pretty red hair that stopped at her waist, she had eyes as green as an emerald. She was very pretty in my opinion, however that's not what shocked me.

She was thin, like she hadn't eaten in awhile. Her skin really fair as though she'd never been out in the sun. She was dressed in worn out clothes that were 4 sizes to big, they were full of holes. Also she was covered in dirt and twigs were stuck in her hair.

That wasn't the worst part, she was bleeding and covered in bruises and cuts. It seemed as though she had been running from something, or someone.

"Can you let me in please, before they find me," she says her body shaking.

She flinched as if something scared her and my eyes widened as her red hair turned as black as a raven.

"Before who gets you?" I asked with a confused look. Why would anyone want to hurt her.

"The Death Eaters," she says as she began trembling in fear, but her hair turned back to its normal color. I move aside and she hurriedly runs inside. I shut the door as she seems to calm down a bit.

"Fred who's at the door," mum says making her way into the kitchen. She stops as her eyes widen taking in the sight of the poor girl before her.

Her behaviour shocked me, because the look she was giving the girl gave the impression that she saw a ghost or something. The color was drained from mums face as she just continued to gaze at the girl.

She walked over to the girl who looked terrified still and gasped as if realising something. Then she said something that was very confusing to me, taking one more step closer mum spoke one word.

"Shaylynn?"..........
