Both excitement and unease resonates within me as the plan touches down at O'Hare International airport. We were back in the Chicago land area. Being back felt a little weird even though I haven't been gone all that long. So much has happened since I left and even more changes were on the horizon.
Dimitri sensing my stress takes my hand in his and gives me a reassuring squeeze. I glance at him and he offers me a small smile. As cliché as it may sound his presence brings me comfort and strength. No matter what happens while we are here having him with me is a great reassurance that as long as we are a united front everything will be a okay.
Our first stop is going to be seeing my parents and telling them about me moving in with Dimitri. The most dreaded conversation I have ever had with them. Better off getting it over and done with to prevent it from hanging over our heads during our visit. At least Chicago isn't super far from Nashville.
We could have actually drove here, but Dimitri insisted on the plane. His reasoning was this way we would be able to drive back down together in my car instead of him driving his care and me driving mine. Dimitri already hired a moving company to move all myself down to his condo. All I needed to do was pack everything and transport myself anything I was afraid of getting broken.
Since I still lived with my parents I didn't have much furniture to move or household items. Basically all I needed to do was pack up my bedroom and bathroom. I'm sure there were a few items around the house I would be taking with me.
Renegade would have to stay at Randy's barn till we found our own place. Vanessa already promised me that she would keep an eye on him for me and ride him. I still needed to talk to Randy about him staying there. I know Randy won't have a problem with it, but I still wanted to talk to him. I would miss the atmosphere of the barn and having people around all the time, but I also couldn't wait to have my own property. Owning my own land has always been a dream of my and now because of Dimitri that dream was going to come true.
The plane comes to a stop snapping me out of my thoughts. Dimitri rises from his seat and stretches. We were sitting in first class, but both of us were sporting disguises. This was also Dimitri's idea he wanted to try and avoid the public's knowledge's of his whereabouts for as long as possible. This would make us getting done what we needed to way easier, but he was having wishful thing of his location not being discovered.
So far so good no one paid us any mind. I almost blew our cover with I heard some girls talking about Steel Wolf and how hot the guys were. I was so tempted to show them the picture I took of the guys passed out cuddling on our floor after our night out. They were a sight to see that is for sure. I took the picture to use it as blackmail later.
Once the door opens and we are told we are able to leave Dimitri takes my hand. He leads me off the plan never dropping his hand from mine. We continue through the airport hand in hand heading towards baggage claim. The we endure the long awaited wait for our suitcases. When we finally get them I call my mom letting her know we were ready and where we were standing outside. Dimitri had wanted to hire someone to come pick us up, but my parents insisted on collecting us.
Dimitri wraps an arm around me and tucks me into his side while we wait. Neither one of us saying much in fear someone might recognize his voice. Thankfully we don't have to wait long for my mom to pull up. I had sent her a picture of us before we left she should would be able to recognize us in our disguises. I could not wait to take mine off. Dimitri throws our suitcases into the back of her SUV while I hop in the back since my dad was in the passenger seat.
"Hey sweetie," my Mom says with a smile. "How was your trip?"
"Let's just say it was an experience I will never forget." I tell her trying to stay slightly vague, because I didn't want her to know about all the heavy shit that happened. No need to have her worry when I go on tour with them again. "I missed you guys."
