Phlegm • Charlie Weasley

"Mum wants to meet you." Charlie beamed.

"Oh no, absolutely not." Skyler jumped off of the couch in the small cabin Charlie Weasley lived in. The two had been dating almost the entire time he was in Romania. They were absolutely in love. "Charlie, I don't do mother's. My own doesn't like me." She explained. It was nothing personal, she just wasn't exactly the kind of woman people tended to bring home to their mothers.

Skyler drank, she smoked, and 99% of the time was caked in dragon dung. She loved the way she and Charlie lived, wild and totally in love. She was not the feminine, soft type that she assumed most of Charlie's brothers brought home. "Oh come on, Sky. She'll love you." Charlie begged. His blue eyes piercing into her, she got lost in them for a moment before shaking her head.

"I can't, Charlie. I'm sure she's a lovely woman but she will not like me, I can assure you that." Skyler huffed, flopped back into an arm chair by the fire.

"Sky. You don't know mum. I do. And I know she'll love you." He squeezed her knee as she stared into the fire; her own mum hated her and she feared Charlie's would too. Charlie and her had discussed their future and knew they wanted to have children one day... how was she going to marry the man and have his children without meeting his mother?

Sky sighed. "I guess. This may be the end to our relationship, though."

"Skyler." Charlie said sternly. He knew she was terrified of Molly not liking her. "It'll be fine, I promise."

Once arriving at the Burrow, things got awkward. Not only was Skyler and Charlie there, but Bill and Fleur... Audrey and Percy... Ron and Hermione... Angelina and George... Skyler stuck out like a sore thumb. The only person in the room she could relate too was Ginny, whom she was currently conversing with. She assumed she'd get along quite well with Angelina, too. They could at least bond over quidditch. She had not seen Molly yet.

"Mum and Angelina told me to tell you they'll be right out. Got a gnome situation out back." Ginny laughed.

"Professional quidditch player, eh?" Skyler smiled. Ginny nodded.

"Sure thought you'd follow that path. You're a legend!" Ginny gushed. Although Skyler was gone by the time Ginny came to Hogwarts, she left a lasting legacy as one of the best Seekers Ravenclaw had seen.

"She was wicked!" George interrupted. "Best seeker I've personally seen, no offense Harry."

"None taken! I don't hold a candle to Skyler." Harry smiled widely from his seat next to Ginny. "Why did you quit playing?"

"Oh, you all are going to give me a big head." Skyler chuckled. "I took a nasty bludger to the knee seventh year. That knee never has been the same since."

"Yeah, she hobbles around when she first wakes up like a 90 year old woman." Charlie teased and Skyler playfully pushed him, resting her elbow on the table. Fleur and Audrey gave her a not so subtle, disgusted look. Skyler quickly removed her elbows from the table and placed her hands in her lap, visibly uncomfortable.

"This was a mistake." She whispered.

"What, dear?" Charlie leaned in, throwing an arm over her shoulder.

"This was a mistake." She said louder, pushing herself away from the table and dashing out the door.

"Sky!" Charlie yelled, running after her and shooting a look at Bill and Percy... signaling they weren't finished. As the couple ran out, Molly came inside.

"What just happened?"

"Phlegm happened, that's what." Ginny grumbled, crossing her arms.

"Ginevra." Molly hissed and followed Charlie and Skyler outside.

"I'm not like them, Charlie. They're the likes that will knit with your mum and ask for recipes and be sweet and girly. I'm not that kind of girl. I don't belong here." Skyler whispered to Charlie, not realizing Molly was in ear shot.

"Sky, just come back inside. We can work this out."  Charlie begged.

"I've seen the way those two look at me, I'm not going back in there. I don't fit in." She sighed, tears wobbling in her eyes.

"Babe, please." Charlie begged, "my brothers and Ginny love you. I know mum will too."

"Ahem." Molly said finally and the two whirled around. "Let's take a walk, dear." She outstretched an arm for Skyler and shooed Charlie back inside.

The two strolled through the garden silently, Molly clutching onto Skyler's arm. "I'm Molly."

"Skyler."

"I've heard a lot about you, dear." Molly smiled. Skyler nodded. Molly seemed like a lovely woman, Skyler knew this just wasn't going to work out... especially after meeting Audrey and Fleur. "What's this about "you don't belong"?"

"Molly." Skyler stopped and faced Molly. "I smoke. I drink. I get my hands dirty. I love Charlie with all my heart... but I'm not like those girls inside. I never have and never will be." Skyler sniffled slightly, "I just don't fit in."

"Let me tell you..." Molly smiled, grabbing the young girls face. "When I look at you, I see a girl who loves my son. That's all that matters to me. Besides.. the person who sticks out like a sore thumb in there are those two." Molly giggled, earning a chuckle from Skyler.

"Ginny and I, we're like you. We like to get our hands dirty. We like to work. Now, I don't approve of smoking but that won't make me love you any different." Skyler smiled, "don't let Hermione and Angelina fool you - they're tough as nails. The only two pansies in there are Audrey and phlegm."

"Phlegm?" Skyler cackled.

"Fleur, sorry. Ginny's nickname wears off sometimes." Molly smiled sheepishly. "I love them, don't get me wrong. They just... they're just not my type. Lovely gals."

Skyler breathed a sigh of relief. "It's nice to meet you, Molly." She smiled.

"The pleasure is all mine." The two women hugged as they walked back to Charlie, who was in a heated discussion with Percy and Bill on the porch.

"Now boys, all is settled." Molly waved her hands at them.

"You okay?" Charlie asked, resting his hands on Skyler's waist.

"Amazing." She smiled and stood on her tippy toes to kiss Charlie's lips.
