"This is church appropriate right?" I asked looking for Naomi's opinion.

"I think it's appropriate... but then again we haven't been in a while." Nomi said second-guessing herself.

After Naomi and I got ready we took an Uber over to the church. And of course the driver made us late, we was definitely going to rate him two stars. People Always doing something.

We made our way into the church, and were advised to wait outside the doors of the auditorium before walking in. They must have been saying a prayer.

Per usual, grandma Cecilia was sitting in the front row. Always the first one there and nearly the last one out.  We both walked down the aisle.

"We have ourselves another birthday in the church this morning. It's sister Jenkins 60th birthday today. Praise the Lord! May there be many more years to come." Pastor Ken said focusing on Cecilia as she began to blush.

Naomi and i were able to find a seat behind grandma Cecilia and the rest of the family.

"And I see this momentous occasion has brought sister Cecilia's granddaughter back to the church." The pastor said as many eyes followed his to find me.

Why the fuck Pastor Ken gotta call me out like that? Gramma Cecilia turned around to face me with a thankful smile on her face.

"As most of you know this young lady grew up in this here church. She sang in the choir and everything, had a beautiful voice that would always lift up the church." Pastor Ken went on.

"Tell me he's not 'bout to ask what I think he is" Nomi whispered.

"Miss. Essence, will you come up here and sing for the congregation?" The pastor asked.

King and Lamar quietly chuckled. Chandra then pinch the both of them, which quickly made them change their laughs to a "cough."

All I could do was smile and shake my head. I stood up and walked to the choir and band. I couldn't believe i was doing this. I looked out into the crowd as the band and choir began singing Fix Me Jesus.

I started to sing, as East and Mickey walked in. East sat right next to I spot.  Mickey sat on the other side of Nomi.  East gave me a look as if he was trying not to crack up.

I sang the song with my entire body.  It was like something had overtaken my being.  I felt myself becoming emotional but I had to remember where i was.
