"Girl, I am in love with your red hair!!" Naomi said adjusting my hair.
"Girrrl, I wasn't sure about it at first, but now I love it!" I said as we walk into the restaurant.
Today I was doing as I promised, taking my, family out for brunch.
"Essie baby, over here," Chandra said waving us over to a large table for at least 10.
"I thought I said be here at 1:00 pm, it's 12:50 pm... Always tryna do it your way." I said sitting at the table.
"I just thought you could use help picking out a table, and I didn't want you to miss count seats," Chandra shrugged.
I squint at my aunt, "It should only be the 7 of us, right?" I asked.
"Add 2 more, I invited Michael and David." Chandra smiled and took a sip from her mimosa.
Aunt Chandra was trying me, she knew exactly what she was doing. East and I were cool, but I hadn't talked to him since I made him pay to get my hair done.
"Wow, how you gonna invite other people to something you're not even hosting." I chuckled.
"Hush Lil girl" Chandra giggled. ——— Everyone had arrived and East sat across from me.
Niggas always looking for some attention.
We all conversed before ordering our food.
The food had finally reached our table, everyone was satisfied with their meal, except me. I had gotten french toast, eggs, bacon, and a small bowl of fruit.
"Girl, what's wrong?" Naomi asked digging into her food. She must have noticed the frown on my face.
"These eggs a lil funky," I said frowning at my plate.
"Let me see," King said dipping his fork into my plate.
"Son, what did I tell you? Manners." Chandra said shaking her head.
Dean chuckled, "Chandra... that boy just like you."
"Hush up Dean" Chandra laughed rolling her eyes.
"Ma, I'm just making sure they good" King said smelling the eggs.
"These eggs smell fine to me," King said as he ate the eggs.
"Hmm, you can have me then," I said giving the eggs to King.
"....you probably pregnant," Chandra said nonchalantly eyeing East.
East choked on his water.
The whole table turned to look at the East.
"Went down the wrong pipe," he said coughing avoiding eye contact.
"Ha.Ha. You so funny auntie." I said sarcastically.
