"Lilyyyyyy!!" Roger spoke loudly in a sing-song voice."What do you want, Roger?" She giggled at his antics.
"We are going out today!" He spoke enthusiastically, bopping her nose as he passed by her.
"Where to?" Lily asked happily. Whenever she was with Roger, she always felt this buzz. She was always happy with him and she only hoped that the happiness she felt now, would last forever.
"Now, that is a secret but I would suggest putting on a summer dress." He wiggled his eyebrows before going in the cupboard and lifting out a picnic basket.
"Are we going to the beach?" Lily asked as he looked back up at her, she was giving him her best puppy dog eyes.
"Don't give me those eyes, you little minx!" He laughed, walking around to her side of the counter and wrapping her up in his arms, tickling her.
"Roger!" She squealed, trying to squirm her way out of his arms.
"And yes," he stopped tickling her and turned her round to face him, Lily still wrapped in his arms. "We are going to the beach." He placed a gentle kiss to her forehead.
"I'll go and get dressed then," she replied softly, looking up at Roger with him being considerably taller than she was. She smiled up at him before placing a kiss to his cheek.
"Don't be long!" He shouted after her as she made her way up the stairs.
After a few minutes Lily returned to find Roger stood ready in the kitchen, the picnic basket in one hand and car keys in the other. "Ready?" He smiled towards her, she nodded in reply and smiled back.
Lily locked the door to the house and turned around to find Roger holding the car door open for her. She smiled softly at the sight and as she passed him to sit in the car, she placed a gentle kiss to his lips. He smiled at her when they both pulled away, his cheeks flushing a light shade of pink. He closed the car door before getting in himself, he started the engine and pulled out of the driveway.
"Why don't you let me drive?" Lily asked out of nowhere, the radio was playing lightly in the background but she much preferred listening to Roger's voice.
He chuckled before taking one of her hands in his, "Because Lily, I don't want you getting hurt and so therefore I will drive you anywhere you want to go." He lifted her hand to his lips and placed a kiss on the back of her hand before lowering it again, but not letting go.
"What did I do to deserve you?" She whispered, playing with his hand, however he heard her statement and smiled softly down at her for a moment before turning back to the road.
"I could ask you the same thing." Lily smiled up at him before turning away, a bright shade of red threatening to show on her cheeks.
A few minutes later he pulled into a car park. "We're here." He announced, turning off the engine and getting out to grab the picnic basket from the boot of the car. Lily got out and shut the door, grabbing his hand and dragging him along behind her.
"Slow down!" Roger laughed, unable to keep up with her.
They found a perfect spot and sat next to each other in the sand, with the sun beating down upon them. "I might take a swim for a little while," Lily looked at Roger who had his head buried in a book.
"Hmm." He answer in response. Typical. Lily thought.
"Are you going to join me?" She asked innocently, removing her summer hat.
"No, you go ahead, I'll see you in a little while." He replied monotonously, before turning his attention back to the book in his hands.
"Ok, well, have a nice time on your own." She rolled her eyes before making her way into the water. She walked further and further in, the water cooling her down on this hot summers day. Why didn't Roger want to join her? Did he not like summer? Or maybe he just didn't feel like having a good time. Maybe it was a touch of the summertime blues? She shrugged not knowing the answer, she pushed the thought to the back of her mind and looked around the beach at the couple who were together. Jealousy tugged at her heart. That could have been her. Her and Roger. But he had to go and make things difficult. She let out a soft sigh while running her hands through the blue water below her, causing ripples on the water to move gently around her.
"Boo." Roger's voice interrupted her moment. He wrapped his arms around her and placed his head on her shoulder. "I couldn't leave you all alone for too long, I'd go mad." He let out a soft chuckle.
"I didn't think you'd actually come swimming." She turned around to face him. He was still wearing his black jeans but was shirtless.
"Only you Roger." Lily stifled a laugh as she stood looking at him under the sunlight, it illuminated his features like never before and she could have sworn it made him look like an angel.
"What?" He asked, looking down at himself as if she was mad.
"Wearing jeans in the ocean? Very classy." She teased him, a grin tugging at her lips.
"Come here you." He grinned, grabbing her by the legs and tossing her over his shoulder.
"Roger!" She gasped, laughing and hitting his back. "Put me down!"
"I won't drop you. You're safe with me." He laughed walking out of the water and back over to where they were previously sat. "There." He set her down in the sand. "Told you that you were safe with me." He grinned, handing her a towel.
Lily smiled gratefully back at him. "I never doubted you for one second." She leaned closer to him and they shared a quick kiss before turning back towards the ocean.
"It's beautiful." Lily spoke in awe.
"It is." Roger agreed, "But not as beautiful as you." Lily smacked his arm gently.
"Oh hush." She laughed. Lily took Roger's hand in hers. "You know, I've just thought something." Lily smiled to herself.
"Oh yeah?" Roger smirked, "And what may that be?"
"Well, and don't laugh, you're Roger Waters," Lily started laughing to herself.
"Yeah..? What's your point?" Roger's lips were tugging a small smile.
"Well, we're at the beach so it's like Roger Waters meets the oceans Waters." Lily giggled at her own joke. "It's not that funny but it is to me." Lily smiled at Roger who had begun laughing himself.
Roger wrapped one of his arms around her shoulders. "I love you Lily, so much that it scares me." He kissed the top of her head. She leaned into his chest and wrapped her arms around his torso. "And I love you too, Roger, more than you'll ever know." She smiled into his chest as the pair watched the sun set together, wrapped in each other's arms. This really was the summer of love.
