(Flashback, Ren's P.O.V)

"What's the catch?"

I could hear the venom in Akechi's voice as he tore his gaze away from the TV broadcast. I had him cornered as I purposely stood infront of the stairs in my room.

I wouldn't let him leave. Not yet.

He awaited my answer. I'd successfully threatened to report him to the Police, now that I was aware he was the culprit behind the mental shutdowns. Since the fight in Shido's Palace two days ago, underground henchmen were surely already searching for Akechi - in order to do away with the last of the politician's corrupt bloodline.

But each of the pawns in this game had a different plan. Including me.

I smirked at seeing him visibly nervous.

"Let's make a deal."

"Forget it." Akechi shut down my advance before it could last in the air for more than a second. I'd saved him from dying at his own cognition's shadow in the Metaverse just days ago, and he'd only just woken up. Whether he liked it or not, Goro was at a disadvantage. Shido had wiped him off the public's radar, and with the knowledge I had, I could easily send him to prison.

Though, I knew it wouldn't come to that.

I watched him step towards me angrily and attempt to shove past me to head downstairs and out of LeBlanc. Before Akechi could gain even a semblance of success, I threw out my arm and pressed my hand against the wall. Our eyes locked onto eachother as our faces now stood hardly a foot from eachother.

You're not going anywhere.

"Move." Goro growled furiously.

"Hear me out." I glared back, refusing to back down.

"Become one of the Phantom Thieves, and change Shido's heart with us."

Akechi's eyes clearly hesitated. He paused, thinking over the request.

A moment later, an amused smirk broke the concentrated expression on his face.

"That's all? Why, if all you needed was more manpower to defeat my father, you could have just said so." As cocky as ever, I didn't doubt Akechi's reaction. Boost his ego, Ren. Make him think this will be easy.

"Is that really your terms? This better not be a waste of my time, Ren...." When I didn't readily respond, I could see Akechi growing more and more irritated. But I enjoyed it.

Keeping him writhing, even for just a moment, was amusing.

I took a breath, preparing for what was coming next. His guard was down - I had him right where I wanted him.

Suddenly, with my lightning fast reflexes, I grabbed a hold of Akechi's collar and roughly jerked his face forward. I positioned my lips mere millimetres from his as I chuckled low and deep in my throat.

You're mine.

"And go out with me."

(end flashback)

That memory was just one of so many that were still so vivid in my mind.

He was angry at me that day. Pushed to the point of boiling over fury when I asked him to date me. Akechi didn't like how close I'd gotten to him, nor how embarassing it was to be asked out.

I remembered having to grab his fists before he shoved me, and when Akechi didn't bite, I had to sweeten the deal with a limit of 3 dates.

But we were already a couple within minutes of the first. Akechi refused to admit it, but he'd fallen head over heels for me long ago. Long before I asked him, even. I was sure of it.
