Beckett

I was in such deep shit. I was currently escorting Kyla down to the throne room, trying to figure out how to breathe properly. Kyla was dressed in a long emerald green dress. It had thin straps and was beaded, making the dress sparkle as she walked. The problem was, there was a slit that ran nearly up to her himp and the back hung low. The front was low cut, showing off her cleavage. I couldn't get my heart to calm down.
"Are you okay?" She asked, lookin at me.
"Yeah. I just don't know how to act a party." I said. That wasn't a lie. I'd never been to anything like this before. At least all my guys could be there with me. "You look amazing by the way."
"Why thank you." She said with a giggle. "You clean up well."
We arrived at the throne room doors and paused.
"Try to have fun tonight okay?" I said. She patted my arm and smiled. Together, we walked in.
It didn't take long before she was swarmed and pulled away. The party was in full swing. I saw some of the guys and went up to them. They were surrounded by a group of girls. They giggled too much for my taste.
One of them kept latching onto my arm and laughed even when I didn't say anything funny. I kept glancing at Kyla, who was currently dancing with a guy. Jealousy spiked again. She kept looking at me, anger flashing across her face. The guy was trying to talk to her but she kept bringing her focus back to me. All of it left me feeling confused.

. . .

Kyla

I was gonna rip her arm off if she didn't stop touching him. I couldn't focus on the guy I was dancing with. I didn't even remember his name. I didn't have any right to be jealous but I couldn't help it. He looked good tonight. Of course there would be women flocking him.
Once the song was over, I abandoned the guy and went straight for Beckett. He kept glancing at me.
"Leah, how nice of you to be here tonight." I said to the girl as I approached. "It's been too long."
She plastered a fake smile on her face as she looked at me. She was one of those girls I couldn't stand. Power hungry, just like the rest of them. And she was draped all over him.
"Princess, it's so good to see you." She said, linking her arm through Becketts. He threw her a confused glance. "Beck here was just in the middle of telling me a funny story."
Beck. She said his name like she'd known him her whole life. I noticed the guys around him stopped talking, analyzing everything.
"Hm I bet." I said with a sweet smile. "I was hoping I could steal him for a dance or two."
"Yes." "No." They both spoke at the same time. Leah looked surprised and threw him a look. It didn't matter. He was already moving away from her and offering me his arm. I threw her a wicked smile and let him pull me onto the dance floor.
"You looked like you needed rescuing." I told him.
"I didn't know you were paying such close attention to me tonight, princess." He said with a smile. I guess I wasn't as discreet as I thought I was. He pulled me close and placed his hand on my exposed, lower back. I could feel the goosebumps where his hand laid.
"Maybe I was watching her." I said, innocently. "I can't stand her. Social climber, just like the rest of them."
"She's definitely a piece of work." He said with a laugh. He pulled me a little closer until we were nearly cheek to cheek. "You wouldn't happen to have been jealous would you?"
I couldn't answer him then. I didn't know what it would do if I answered him. I tried to focus on the dance but I kept turning my attention back his hands. How softly he held my hand and how feather light his hand was on my back. For such a strong warrior, he was extremely gentle.
"Speechless, princess?" He whispered, breath tickling my ear. "You can tell me. I can keep a secret."
"Yeah sure. You tell your guys everything." I said back. I laughed but truthfully my heart was pounding.
"How about a secret for a secret then?" He said. I nodded, not trusting my voice. "What if I told you that I was jealous of Dain?"
"Dain?" I asked, stupidly. That was weeks ago. What did he have anything to do with this?
"Yes." He said. "I was jealous watching you two sit there and eat. Before all the other stuff. The way he wanted to talk about the future. The way he held your hand. I wanted it to be me."
I felt like my heart stopped. So it wasn't just me then.
"Your turn, sweetheart." He whispered. He never called me that before.
"I was jealous of her." I finally said. "I didn't like the way she was putting her hands on you. It felt wrong."
His cheek pressed against mine and I felt him smile. He said nothing else while he twirled me around the dance floor. We danced like that for two songs.
"Looks like my time is up." He said. "Someone else wants to dance with you."
"Tell him to butt out." I said.
"I don't think your dad would like that." He said. He turned his head and kissed my cheek softly. "Have fun, princess."
We stopped moving and I watched as he walked away. My dad stepped into view and smiled. Like he knew everything.
