Kyla

It was the middle of the night before I finally made my way up to my room. I felt like I was floating. When I walked into the room, my eyes went straight to the rose on my pillow. I turned and faced the door to Beckett's room. I knew he'd probably be asleep but I eased the door open anyways. I could see his sleeping silhouette as I tip toed in.
I stopped at the side of his bed and smiled. His hair grew out some and was almost down to his eyes in a shaggy style. I leaned down and kissed his forehead before going back to my own room. For the first time in a long time, I felt completely at peace.

. . .

I jolted awake and sat straight up. My heart was in my throat. Pure power seemed to fill the room and for a second I couldn't figure out where it was coming from. Then I heard Beckett groan. Throwing back the covers, I bolted to his room. He was on the floor, back slightly arched.
"Beck!" I yelled, running to his side. "Beck, it's gonna be okay!"
"What's happening to me?" He asked, voice strained.
"It's the Descent. You're gonna be okay." I told him. I tried to reach for him but he twitched and nearly rolled the other way. "It's gonna be over soon."
I stayed with him through it all. Light filled the room. Coming straight from him. I watched as he features slightly changed. Ears coming to a full point, cheekbones becoming even sharper. After what seemed like forever, the light died down and he finally slumped to the floor. I knew it was a fast process but it seemed like I sat there staring at him for an eternity.
"Beck?" I whispered, sliding closer to him on the floor. "You're gonna be really tired now. Let's get you to bed."
With great effort, I helped him get into bed. When I started to step away from him, he grabbed my hand.
"Will you stay, please?" He asked.
"Of course I will." I told him, climbing into the bed with him.
"Is your mom okay?" He asked, voice quiet.
"Yeah she's good." I replied. "Thank you so much for finding her. I can't tell you how happy I am. I missed her so much."
"You don't need to thank me." He whispered, wrapping his arms around me.
"So my mom asked when you're gonna ask for my hand?" I said with a smile.
"Shhhh." He tried not to laugh. "Go to sleep, princess."
"Fine but this conversation isn't over." I snuggled closer to him. I felt his laugh rumble through his chest. I closed my eyes and sighed. Sleep found me faster than I thought I would.
