The whole trip was quiet. Marilyn and Laura were seated at the back and neither of them has the urge to speak. Laura doesn’t want to speak as Marilyn may find her a try hard and maybe Marilyn doesn’t want either because Laura is a stranger to her. Laura wished that soon enough they will be comfortable with each other.

“I expect you two to go along through thick and thin, alright?” Anastacia smiled as she gave the girls a comforting look.

“Sure, mom.” Marilyn forced her smile and anyone could notice that. She then rolled her eyes to her left and rest her head on the window. Laura, not knowing what to do, smiled at Marilyn’s mom and nodded willingly.

'I'll never be going along with her.' She rolled her eyes in annoyance.

“Girls, we’re here.” George’s smile brightens up as Marilyn hurriedly opened the door for herself.

Laura was lost in the moment realizing how big this school is. It looks fictitious and at the state-of-the-art, but the moment she saw the school, it made her unsettling feelings grew.

‘Why do I feel like I’ve seen this place already? Have I been here before? No, that’s impossible. I’ve never been to a place as grand as this.’

Laura sure knew she felt something towards this school. She kept remembering where has she seen it. Postcards? Painting perhaps?

Wait, painting?

“Laura, dear? Are you here?” Anastacia waved her hands in front of Laura’s face as she came back from drowning in her thoughts.

“Is there a problem, dear?” She took a deep breath and smiled at her mom.

“I just thought maybe this school is too big. I might get lost.” Laura scratched her head in hopes to divert the real thoughts she had in mind in the excuse she had made.

“Oh, dear.” Anastacia giggled. “You have Marilyn. She can take you to places and you’ll get used to those rooms and corners soon.”

Laura assisted herself and recompose herself as she and Marilyn both waved their parents goodbye.

“Don’t you dare come up to me and ask me to take you to places because I won’t and I never will! I hate you.” Marilyn’s words stung in Laura’s ears but she decided to hold herself and act as if she heard nothing.

“Pardon?” She faked a smile and looked at Marilyn.

Marilyn was frustrated and turned her back on Laura and started walking. They both entered the school beyond the gate as they are welcomed by a curly-haired girl. Laura got curious about who that girl is and why is she hugging Marilyn, but she focused more on studying the place.

She could hear murmurs of Marilyn and that girl’s conversation, but her eyes wandered around the place. A few miles away, she noticed a girl looking at her...

Or did she?

It started waving to her and Laura, not wanting to assume things out, turned and checked if anyone was there but there was no one. Still not convinced, Laura pointed herself while looking at that girl. The girl from miles away nodded cheerfully and once again waved enthusiastically. Laura waved back and smiled.

'Not a bad thing for a first day, huh?’ She thought to herself.

"Who are you waving, Laura?” Marilyn furiously asked and crossed her arms in dissatisfaction.

'Who would dare to befriend this weirdo? Eww.' Marilyn mumbled under her breath.

Laura looked at her and stopped waving and bowed her head down in embarrassment.
