She took a deep breath before deciding to enter the hall. Everyone inside the room was busy discussing something. She couldn't get a hold of everyone and no one seems to approach her. Laura was about to leave when someone called out.
"Hey, excuse me?" She turned her head to whoever it is that was calling out.
"You are Laura Stephenson, aren't you?" She nodded and took a bow in front of the girl.
"I was told you can be a great actress, is that true?" Laura blushed at the compliment.
"I don't know. Maybe I could try to enter your club for you to assess me?"
"Great! That would be lovely. Nice to meet you. I'm Apple Samonte." She smiled and shakes Laura's hand.
"You wouldn't mind acting with others who are already part of the club, right?" Her brow rose in concern.
"It sounds intimidating but it's fine. I'll do my best." She smiled at her.
"Hello, everyone." She clapped her hands and all their attention focused on them. "Has anyone of you seen Sam?" Everyone started looking at each other.
"He went on the field. He's got to practice." A girl who had her hair done in pigtails responded.
"Hey, Apple. Why are you always finding Sam--"
"Yeah, you. You will do. You could pair up with her." The director pointed at him.
"Her?" Josh fixed his glasses and looked at the girl next to Apple. "Hey, Laura!" He ran towards them and stopped his tracks in front of her.
"I'm glad you made it here." He turned to meet Apple's gaze. "She's great. I could tell. She's been acting with me these past few days on various subjects."
"Oh, that's good to hear. She'll be comfortable acting with you then." Apple nodded at the idea.
"Here." Apple gave pages of paper to Laura and Josh. "We'll give you fifteen minutes to study and memorize the lines. I'll call you when it's time." She smiled and left.
"I know you will pass the audition." Josh motioned his elbow to Laura's.
"How would you know?" Laura's brows met.
"I can tell. I'm an actor myself." He laughed at his heart's content.
They studied together and practiced throwing lines. They had a few laughs during practice but they were doing just fine. After what seemed like half of an hour, Apple came back asking if they were ready.
"Sorry, it took me so long to call you. We were busy preparing the stage for the both of you."
"It's fine. Shall we go?" He turned to Laura and she smiled at him.
The club officers and few members settled on their seats while waiting for the actors to perform.
"Are you okay?" Josh asked her with concern noticing how unsettling her glances are.
"Yeah, a bit. I'm nervous." She fanned her hands in the air trying to dry her hands caused by sweat.
"Don't mind their presence. You have to focus on me. Focus on the act. Act as if they weren't there. Focus on the storyline." She nodded.
