Wilbur POV

New York was brighter than you thought but it was also a lot busier.

It had got later as you struggled to find your way further into the City but the streets were still bustling with activity, the lamp posts casting shadows which danced along the brick walls and the people jostling with eachother, trying to barge through the large groups here and there.

Once, you had to stop Tubbo from being shoved infront of the oncoming traffic because someone was clearly too impatient to wait or walk even a tad slower.

"I already dislike it here" You mutter, pushing Tubbo infront of you and behind Techno who was being dragged by Tommy.

Y/n was cruising along behind you and gave you a blank smile when you cast a backwards glance at them.

You weren't quite sure what had gone on but you thought you'd annoyed them.

See, you didn't quite trust Ranboo as he reminded you of someone from your past, before Phil and before Y/n.

Hadn't been a pleasant experience but you were past it now and that was all that mattered.

Y/n seemed pretty distracted by the new scenery so you didn't want to interrupt them and their thought process.

Instead you made sure that Tommy didn't run off with Techno and that Tubbo didn't either get pushed into the road again, or follow Tommy off down some random alleyway that stunk of car fumes and musty precipitation.

You caught sight of an illuminated sign across the road with the words 'PLAZA HOTEL'.

"Guys, It's getting late and I don't wanna act like a parent or anything but we really should find somewhere to stay" You notion at the Hotel across the road.

"Good idea" You hear Techno reply before he walks across the road, this time dragging Tommy, who was holding onto Tubbo, magically avoiding all of the cars and pedestrians.

You decide to follow, hoping Y/n was behind you.

You managed to get across the road alright, spare your eardrums which were ringing from the car horns.

"Jesus, how loud are the honks?" You hear Tubbo say.

You and your group go inside the grand building.

And clearly the outside of the building was nice and all but it didn't do it justice.

The lobby was furnished with satin and velvet decor in a brazen gold with floral patterns swirling all around the plush cusions.

The windows were large and floodlit with the outside lights which fell through the glass in perfect formation.

The curtains tied up neatly with a golden chord were a deep velvet and the floated gently in the slight breeze, despite the weight of the fabric.

An extravagant chandelier glimmered in the fractal light emitted from the bulb at its core, brightening the whole room just that little bit more.

You took a deep breath and strode up to the receptionist.

"Er... Hi. Could we possibly get a room?" You asked, a little awkwardly, wondering if this was a good idea or not.

"Sir we only have a few rooms left" The receptionist looked you up and down, frowing at your casual attire.

"That's fine! Anything's fine. Really. We're just trying to find our Dad and need somewhere to stay" You cringe slightly.

Pulling the pity card was probably the best idea but you hadn't called Phil 'Dad' before, or atleast not publically.
