Chapter 34: The truth, fraud and letters

(This chapter is a bit darker than the others, just letting you know:)

Aurelia's POV

I got home a mess. An absolute exhausted, tired, soaking wet, sore and aching mess.

I flopped down on my bed and sighed.

What a day...

I was excited to just get to sleep, but suddenly there was a knock on the door.

"Come in..." I groaned, and the door opened.

"These letters arrived from your mother and father today." The guard set the pile down on my table and bowed before leaving.

"Thank you..." I managed to say before getting up to sit down and read them.

Dear Aurelia...

I'm sorry we haven't been writing as much lately! Things have been busy. Meetings and all, preparing for the baby and stuff like that. We just hope you're doing okay dear! We miss you so much and love you to pieces.

The letter was dated for about a week ago. And then there was a second one.

Dear Aurelia,

Aurelia! Guess what? Your baby sister just arrived this morning! We tried to send a letter letting you know when your mother had gone into labor, but there was a storm so we couldn't. But she's here now, and she's healthy. We're so excited for you to come home and meet her. She looks just like you! We miss you and love you darling!

That was dated for three days ago. Great.

There was a third letter, but I didn't bother reading it just yet. I just laid back down on my bed. I wanted nothing more than to sleep. As much as I wanted to get home and see my parents and sister, sleep was more important.

But then of course my door burst open.

"Aurelia! Do you wanna-"

"Kyle! What is wrong with you?!" I hissed, and he looked confused for a moment. "Can't you see I'm trying to sleep?!"

"S-Sorry, Auri. But Ryan and I were just wondering if you wanted to play a quick game with the group. They brought some real fun ones over." He told me, and I sighed.

"Like what?"

"Well, like spin the bottle, some cards, and a new board game or two." He shrugged and I nodded a bit.

"I am really quite tired, but... a game or two couldn't hurt I suppose." I yawned and sat up, and he smiled.

"Great. I'll see you down there then." He gently kissed my lips and began heading back down. "I'll miss you when you leave, though. Know that." He then left.

I decided to read the last letter before heading down, and I sat at my desk and opened the paper.

Dear Aurelia,

We wanted to let you know Riju and Yunobo asked about a 'secret'. We'll tell you, so long as you come home. We'd rather explain it in person rather than over letter. Love you sweetheart :)

Fair enough. I just grabbed my jacket and went downstairs to find the others for our little game night.

Your POV

You could feel the ropes tighten around you, and Sidon's back pressed against your own more and more.

"Release us." He growled as he managed to get the rope out of his mouth. You leaned your head against his back, tired and worn out. Hands tied to your sides, legs tied together, and tied tightly together, you and Sidon were trapped.

"Now why would we do that?" Aiko giggled deviously, circling around us slowly as the guards finsihed tying the knots. You hissed as you felt the ropes tightening around your belly.

"We made an... an... an agreement." Sidon managed to say as he tried to loosen the ropes around you so you wouldn't feel much pain while tightening them around himself slightly.

"Well guess what? I don't care!" She laughed, looking over the pair of you, basically hanging from the ceiling of the hallway back to back with ropes everywhere.

"A-Aiko... please... y-you can do anything to us... after our baby's born, o-okay?" You stammered, fearing for your own life and your child's in that moment.

"Fair enough. But Mister King over here has no excuse. You can just stay here while we get answers out of your husband, okay? We'll get you somewhere nice and safe when the time comes for your child to arrive. Then the fun begins!"

"N-No... please don't hurt him..." You cried, managing to hold Sidon's hand. He held yours tightly and his tail fin rested against your head.

"If he gives us answers, we won't." Aiko walked over to Sidon, dagger in her left hand. "So, King Sidon," she said, flipping it. "Where's your daughter?"

"Not in Hyrule at the moment." You could feel him tense up and wince as she dragged the dagger along his arm.

"Don't lie to me. She's at the castle isn't she?" She said in a high tone, and you let tears fall down your cheeks as Sidon's tail fin wiggled a bit, but very stiffly.

"S-Sorry dear..." He apologized as it hit your head softly a few times, but you sniffled and looked behind you.

"A-Are you okay?" You asked, just wanting all of this to end.

"I-I'm... f-fine..." You could tell he was just trying to be strong but was barely making it.

"So? Is she at the castle?" Aiko asked again, and Sidon didn't answer. She held the dagger to his chest.

"You're not gonna hurt her, are you?!" He exclaimed, and she pushed harder to his chest.

"Answer. The. Question."

"Y-Yes..." He finally admitted. "But if you even lay a finger on my family you will pay. Kill me if you want, but if you even dare hurt my wife, daughter or second child, I'll make sure you rue the day you were born."

"Oh really?" She slid the knife lightly down his chest, leaving a light but long scar. "Okay." She walked over to you and used the dagger to gently lift your chin. "I'll be sure to... keep that in mind." She carefully pulled the knife away, just breaching the edge of Sidon's threat, and walked away. Yiga guards made sure to keep an eye on you and your husband, but no other harm was done.

Not to say there wouldn't be in the future, but then again Aurelia would be there soon.

Aurelia's POV

I got back to my room and made a decision I figured would be for the better.

I sat down at my desk and pulled out paper and a pen, and began writing what I had thought about over out game night.

Dear Mom and Dad,

I've decided to stay at Hyrule Castle for a while longer. Maybe another month or two. I'm excited to come home and meet the new baby, but I think I just need some more time here to think about my personal self. About this secret you're apparently keeping... tell me later if it isn't too important. I miss you and love you guys!
